Her Talents Rose Like Bubbles in the Air, on the Growth of a Woman

With a dream in her mind, she’d, worked hard toward it, and now, she’s finally, successful, translated…

From when we were children, I’d never seen my younger cousin Juan cry, other than on the day she’d told me that she’s, ending her own workshop.

A couple of years ago, Juan came back to Taiwan from her studies in England, and realized, that she’d not enjoyed working in business management, what she’d taken the courses in in England, nor was it the logistic training she’d received in the U.S., but something totally, unrelated, handcrafts. Due to change, she’d taken up embroidery with an instructor, then, learned to make the clothes herself from scratch, slowly, she’d, found that childhood dream back again. Later on, she’d set up a workshop with a friend, and, set up their counter at a chain bookstore. For five years, she’d poured all her energies in, and, entered into the shows, and there were, the Japanese businesses that’s, high on quality control wanted to work with her from overseas.

But, because her business partner didn’t manage the business well enough, they’d had financial troubles, the workshop was, shut down. That was what Juan never expected, other than feeling upset, she’d bumped into an ad from a music class, and picked up drumming, wanted to use her hands, to beat out the angers and the disappointments she’d endured, and also, to find that peace of mind back again.

It was, the end of the year, when the drumming class was, invited to perform at a nursing home. Because everybody worried that the drums may get too loud and scare the elders, they’d, decided to place some towels over the drums, as volume control. And so, she’d, used her professional expertise, measured the surfaces of the drums, selected the fitting covers, then, stuffed the cottons in, and sewn up the “dresses” for the drums. As she’d brought the “dresses” she’d made for the drums to her class, everybody there was so happy and thrilled.

Later, Juan had even, made complete outfits for all of her performing group members, the bandanas, the drumstick covers, and even the clothes they’d performed in, she’d, taken care of; in the end, the classmates from next door learned, and had, given her an order slip too!

Seeing how Juan had, found her way again, and doing things she enjoyed doing for a living, it’d, reminded me of the movie I saw not long ago, “Secret Superstar”, the agent/signer, Aamir Khan told the not-yet-famous, but very talented star of the future, “people who are talented are like the bubbles in a soda, they will, rely on themselves, and, slowly, rise up to the top, nothing will, stand in their ways.”

On Juan, I saw, those, “bubbles in a soda” too. A talented person, so long as s/he keeps holding on tight to her/his dreams, with everything that s/he has, there will be an open sky for the person, to live and dream under no matter where s/he heads to.

And so, this woman used her own talents, and made herself shine, and this still just showed, that you should, follow your interests, do something you love doing, and just, persist on that path, not letting what anybody else’s says of your talents get you down, and, you will be successful in whatever you choose to do, just like this woman had, succeeded, in pursuing her own dreams.
