A fire that started at a three-story mansion yesterday, with losses of life, and injuries too, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
A Three-Story Mansion in Toucheng, Yilan caught on fire yesterday afternoon, the homeowner, Lin took his seven-year-old young granddaughter, got out of the house, watched the fire devoured up the place. The second daughter-in-law who was visiting, in a moment of distress, tossed her own six-year-old from the third floor, then, carried the four-year-old daughter, leapt out, the three of them landed on the rain roof, were injured and taken to the hospital; Lin’s wife and his eldest son couldn’t make it out in time, they’d died on the lanai and in the bathroom.
This fire had caused two casualties in death and three injuries, as well as the two-and-a-half year old young grandson who lived next door suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to the hospital; the fire department investigated, that what made the fire spread so quickly was the insulation of the rooms, made with wooden boards, the place where the fire started was close to the couch in the living room on the second floor, they’d ruled out the electric wire as the cause, because the investigators found cigarette butts close by to where the fire started, and the fire department is now, investigating if the cigarette butts are related to the fire.
The police said, that Lin, in his sixties has three sons four daughters, and he and his sixty-two year-old wife, and thirty-eight year old single son live together, on the first floor, there was a noodle stand and a betel nut stand; but yesterday was Sunday and the noodle stand wasn’t working, the second son sent his wife and three daughters home to Toucheng to visit the parents, as the fire started, Lin and his eldest grandaughter was on the first floor, watching T.V., Lin’s wife, his eldest son, daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters were, resting on the second and third floors.
At around two in the afternoon, Lin found that a fire had started in the second floor living room, he’d immediately gotten out with his seven-year-old granddaughter; then, he’d wanted to, rush back immediately to save the rest of his families, but, the three stories were, being swallowed by the blazes, it was, very dangerous.
Not long thereafter, Lin’s second daughter-n-law, took her six and four-year-old young daughters and hid on the third floor lanai, seeing how the fire was about to get to them. She’d, decided to jump for it. She’d tossed her second daughter to the rainroof on the first floor, then, took her third daughter and leapt; the three of them broke through the rainroof, had multiple fractures all over their bodies, is currently in the hospital, not in critical condition.
Lin didn’t see his wife or eldest son out yet, he was worried; as the firefighters put out the blazes, and was cleaning up the scenes, they’d found Lin’s wife and eldest son in the second floor bedroom and third floor bathrooms.
“Perhaps, it’s a faulty stove, we’d not even, noticed that there was a fire next door”, the next-door neighbors stated, as they’d heard the loud bang, they’d rushed out to check, and they already saw Lin’s daughter-in-law, lying on the floor with her daughter in her arms. The neighbors said, that the Lins were a tight-knit family, really kind to everybody, and they couldn’t imagine, that this tragedy had, hit the family, right before the New Year’s.
And this, still just showed, how important, to watch out for fire safety, especially with the weather getting colder in the world, and, these accidental fires will keep on happening, in the winters, as the winters in the world are, getting colder and colder by the year…
