On the Eastside of Taipei, the crowd packed up the streets during the daytime; and, as the night falls, the place looked like a ghost town. There were, groups of individuals, walking around, like zombies, trekking the city streets, or, they’re found, by the shelters of roofs of the commercial buildings, or slouched in the corners, it seemed, that everybody has a specific spot, with the quilts, the sleeping bags, the broken bowls and used up basins, they’re, all that they have, as belongings. They’re, homeless, or that they can’t go home, and the collective noun for these people are “wanderers of the streets”.
Aren’t there better places for these individuals to stay? Yes, there is the MRT station close by, but, as the last train leaves, the gates were pulled down, in ALL the MRT stations across the metro of Taipei, even in the Taipei Main Station too.
The homeless population is a serious problem for any and ALL governments, and naturally, we can’t do what China does, forcibly, remove this “lower statuses of people”, what our government does, is chasing these homeless out, and believing that not seeing them, means that they don’t exist.
it would be nice, to have a shelter for the night to go to, wouldn’t it?? Not my photo…
In other nations such as Japan, the U.S., and some countries in Europe, in the special weather conditions, the government will open up certain train stations for the locals to have a temporary stay, so why can’t Taiwan do the same? Is it so difficult, for Mayor Ke to order the opening of some of the stations? Or perhaps, you’d felt, that the homeless isn’t among your constituencies? The head of the legislative branch of our government, Lai called out to the rest of the population, to do good deeds, why don’t YOU lead the way for the rest of us? What is the value of Taiwan?
There’s, a serious cold front coming soon, and, the people jokingly called the night clubs on the eastside a place to “collect the bodies”, if the government don’t come up with a way, we may all be, picking UP the DEAD bodies………of the homeless soon!
this is in Japan, photo found online…
And so, this, is the issues with the policies, and the cultural differences too, and, the government should, open up the stations for special circumstances, or maybe even, set up some homeless shelters, where these homeless people can stay for the night when it gets too cold, to sleep out on the streets, but, that’s just not a trend here, in Taiwan…
