Finding New Beginnings in My Old Life

Setting those goals, and, accomplishing them, step-by-step, the philosophies of life, translated…

A little while ago, I was in Phnom Penh, and I’d bumped into an older Japanese gent who’d just entered into Burma from India, he’d started traveling after he retired, and, fell hopelessly in love with India. Seeing how the elderly started flying southbound like a migratory bird, his children started worrying, and banned him from visiting. And after the bargaining, the negotiations, the older gent had to agree: this was the last trip he will ever have, to India, and he’d had to, shorten his trip, and booked the hotels, and that, was when his families finally, signed off on this journey of his.

There’s a sharp contrast in temperature during the daytime and evenings, and, there isn’t convenience public transportation systems or sanitations, if an elder of over seventy head there alone, and if he caught a cold, then, contracted the Delhi malaria, the trip to India may well become, a trip to fight for his own life.

In Phnom Penh, the older gent from Japan, while in conversations with me, was already coughing, and sneezing, but his eyes shone, it’d made me question, “could this be, his very last trip to India?”

Another man who gave it his all, not left any regrets in all the stages in his life happened Beijing.

In 2015, as the Chinese International Fashion show started, there was, an elderly male model who’d walked the runway only wearing his pants. The seventy-nine year-old Der-Shun Wang, migrated to Beijing from Shengyang in his younger years, his “drift” to the north, plus his character, had made him find ways of enrich his own life constantly: he’d started learning English in his forties, then swimming, horseback riding, riding a motorcycle, and at age seventy, he’d worked out regularly, and managed to get his pecs and six-pack abs too, became the hit of the cotton-filled coats’ down the runway.

At the end of year, a new beginning. Sharing the elders experience, I’d hoped, that as you make plans for your new year’s, you can tackle the goals, and not just give yourselves the pressures to live up to the goals you’d set for yourselves. If you think, that the two older gentlemen’s lifestyle is too far off from ours, then, let’s start with something simpler: cleaning up around yourselves, what you can pick back up, like speaking Japanese, or start that painting that’s gathering dust somewhere, or reestablish the contacts you’d lost through the years……………after all, finding new beginnings, in our old lives, shouldn’t be as hard as beginning something, anew, right?

And so, from the examples of these older gents, we know, that it’s, never too late, to start chasing our dreams, and, if we don’t want any regrets to take us over when we’re elderly, we should just, go out, and live our own dreams, now! Stop procrastinating already!!!
