Uh, what the F***??? From the Front Page Sections, translated…
Of the courses I’d taught at the university level, in recent years, I’d found two categories of things that worried me: the first, in the three years, there were, already, three students who are willing to, get an “F” as a grade, to retake the courses, and gone on vacation abroad with the family (one of whom would rather receive a score of ZERO for the midterms), reason being, that the parents believed that the liberal arts courses aren’t that important, that skipping a few class sessions a week is no big deal, and it’s a hard to come by opportunity, for the whole family to get together on a trip.)
And another case was how the professors had helped the seniors gained the hard-to-come-by internships, but the students would rather work in hard labor, to have the low hourly wages, than to work as learning volunteers, in the workplace one to two days out of the week (with the credits from the courses, and the certifications too), reason being, the parents believed, that “those liberal arts majors are, destined to earn the measly wages, that there’s, no need, to have the students look forward to a life without any futures).
From this, we can clearly see, that the parents’ beliefs were, influenced by the environment, and it’d, affected the children’s attitudes in learning, believed, that liberal arts majors don’t have a future, or that they’d only seen the small benefits beforehand, and ignored the bigger gains of wisdom, moral responsibilities, that will help better the society as a whole.
The country needs to alter the beliefs of weighing the sciences and engineering heavily and the liberal arts not enough, after all, the purpose of the liberal arts studies, is not only to help cultivate the changes, the flair, at the same time, training the students to organize, to work together as a group, along with other unmeasurable skills, and, wouldn’t having these skills, benefit the country, providing the workforce, with more of the needed people with the right kinds of values?
As the government kept trying to find human resources internationally, why not think about, how to train and better the students within this country instead? More importantly, the people in the government positions shouldn’t just work in their posts, because they’d, passed the examinations, and we’d also needed to consider, morality, along with other intangible ideals too.
And so, this, would be, the DOWNSIDE to this country’s systems of education, the students now are all, focused on getting that degree, instead of learning things, after all, the degree shows that hey, I graduated out of a five-star university! But, what if you don’t have any moral responsibilities, or, is clueless of, everything that’s around you? Then, what is, the WORTH of that FIVE-STAR education, huh???
