To Prevent Dementia Early and the Loss of Abilities, the Local Department of Sanitations Sponsored a 12-Week Program, 178 Elderly Were Involved, a Ninety-Four-Year-Old Elderly Woman Went to the Activities Every Day, a Ninety-Seven-Year-Old Elderly Man Looks Forward to the Dances and Exercises the Program Has to Offer.

“Are grandma and grandpa happy”, the Kinmen County has a huge number of elderly population, in order to prevent dementia and the loss of the abilities, the local government was very active in setting up various health seminars and exercise programs, the man in charge of the Department of Sanitation, Wang stated, that based off of the researches, to help prevent the elderly from dementia can save a lot of money for the government, each and every elderly in the program will stay healthy and live longer too.

The ninety-four year-old grandma Lee had gone to every exercise class, it’d made the teacher who led the courses very impressive. There was an elderly in the Xia-Chuang Community Development center who had difficulties walking around, and needed a walker, and yet, after 12 weeks’ worth of muscle training, she’d become more agile now, and her face looked very well too, she’d no longer needed to rely on her walker that often anymore.

The 97-year-old elderly man, Wu said, he’d looked forward to dancing with everybody every single day, and sometimes, as the instructor showed up only five minutes late, he’d started worrying, that the class might have been canceled, the way he’d worked so very hard, so focused, had even the teaching assistant impressed.

Wang said, that in the past, the focuses of the elderly exercise programs are focused on the exercise programs, but, toward the elderly who’d lost abilities, the focus need to get shifted to helping them rebuild.

And so, this, is a wonderful program, for these elderly to get more socially active and healthier, because by going to these exercise sessions, they’re involving themselves in socializing, and socialization is the key to aging gracefully.
