The Final Resolve

Something that’s, really bizarre, translated…

I was sorting through some business matters at home day, then my doorbell rang, and my dogs started barking like crazy, because of the commotions outside. Because I couldn’t spare the time, I’d ignored the doorbell for the time being, until outside my door came, “Is someone at home, it’s the police!”

I’d opened up the doors, the officers, the firefighters, along with the members of the homeowner committee of my community came, said they’d wanted to see if they could get next door from my balcony, “What’s happened next door?”, I’d asked surprised, but all of them shook their heads together, “Don’t worry for now, we’d just here, to understand what’s happening.” there was that nervousness in the air, some form of chaos, brewing, and suddenly, I’d recalled my next door neighbor, Ms. C and the happenings in her life.

Ms. C is an art teacher, nobody really knows enough about her, only that she lives alone, and is unmarried, somewhat emotionally unstable, and would often get into spats with the neighbors. She’d hollered aloud in the hallways, and cursed people whom she didn’t even know, throw things, and call the cops every now and then, to make trouble………almost everybody had been sued by Ms. C, on her claims. For this, I’d tried to head off to work early, and come home late, made excuses to stay somewhere else for the nights, and even threw my money away on the fortune tellers, to see if there are ways, I can, of dissolve this difficulty.

Later, I’d gone a work-vacation to Australia, to leave all of these messy businesses behind me. And, during this period, while Ms. C was painting, she’d, accidentally triggered the fire alarms at home, and it’d, flooded many of the neighbors’ apartments, and, the residents decided to sue her to kick her out of the community.

A year later, I’d come back, one day, Ms. C came to us with wrinkled pieces of paper, hoping that she could settle with all of us, that if we were willing, then, we could, sign the paper. I looked at the sheet, there wasn’t any of the neighbors who’d signed yet, but perhaps, because too much time had passed, and I’d gone away, took myself out of my living conditions, that everything was, forgotten already, and so, I was the first, and the only, who was, willing, to settle with her. Later on, she’d treated me very differently, she’d nodded to say hi as we bumped into one another, and on the holidays and special occasions, she’d bring me the gift baskets too, although she’d still gotten into disagreements with the other residents, but at least, she’d managed to, skip me now.

Not long thereafter, the residents started complaining of a strong bad scent that came, they’d reported to the community’s committee board members, and called the police. As the fire department broke down Ms. C’s doors, they’d found that she’d been dead three days because of her illness. What’s weird, I, living next door to her, passed by her doors every day with my dog, but my dog and I’d never, smelled anything rancid coming from her apartments.

Could it be, because I was the only one who’d agreed to settle with her while she was still alive?

And so, for whatever reason, this writer was the only one who hadn’t smelled the scent of her neighbor’s body becoming rotted, while everybody else who are her neighbors had, and this makes me wonder, could it be that it’s like the writer had said, the reason for this was because s/he was the only one who was, willing to sign the settlement agreement with the female neighbor??? Stranger things have happened in this world that’s for sure!!!
