Thanks to the medical advances in Taiwan that this young man finally, gained a new lease on life, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
“Lucky”, a boy Der-Yuan Du, born in the distant regions of central Vietnam back in 1998, because he was born with severe deformity of the skull, in the assistance of the Taiwanese All-Goodwill Foundation, he’d come to Changgang Hospital here, to get the medical treatments for his facial deformities, after nearly twenty years later, Lucky is still, paralyzed and bedridden, couldn’t take care of his own daily living needs. But the C.E.O. of the All-Goodwill Foundation, Yuan said, “Lucky is like a small buddha”, because he’d opened up the precedence, to the various medical and healthcare treatment plans in Vietnam.
The actor, Shu-Li Chen who’d assisted lucky to make the trip to Taiwan for the medical treatments he’d needed returned back to Vietnam to visit yesterday, as she saw Lucky and his mother, she couldn’t hold back her tears. She’d recalled, that before the surgical measures were done, there were, two large holes on Lucky’s face, his lips were, combined together, “As I first saw him, I didn’t even dare to breathe.”
The All Goodwill Foundation’s Shunhwa Station manager, Huang stated, that there were the chemical attacks by the American troops, causing there to be a large number of deformed children being born, and there were many unexploded bombs in the region, that the children could’ve picked them up and gotten injured, Lucky was the very first case who’d come to Taiwan for treatments.

Yuan said, as Lucky came to Taiwan, it’d received a ton of support from the public, and the All Goodwill Foundations allotted the donations from the public, to help more children in the poverty stricken areas of the world, to get the medical treatment procedures they’d needed, there are now, over 3,000 children in Vietnam locally, who are receiving the surgical procedures they’d needed. “He’s like a little Buddha”, suffering himself, but, he’d helped many others, with his example.
Lucky’s mother, Hu said, that she’d wanted to give up before, but, because of the Goodwill Foundation’s help, Lucky is able to be who he’d become today, she’d treated Lucky as a god-sent trial to her life.
And so, this, is due to the medical advances here, that’s helped more and more who’d needed, and, this young man was a precedence, his case opened the doors, to get the needed surgeries that people like him needed, and he is an inspiration, of what this foundation here is doing, all the good work.
