The Chinese Language Daily’s Board of Trustees didn’t have their election like they were supposed to last year, the Department of Education asked the courts to FIRE all members of the board of trustees of the children’s newspapers, and assigned the temporary CEO to help keep the newspapers going smoothly; the Taipei District Court believed, that the Chinese Language Daily isn’t a unit that was sponsored by the governments, that the Department of Education made its claims with NO just cause, and found that the Department of Education to have lost the court case, but the Department of Education can fight for an appeal to get the rulings overturned.

Last year, the Department of Education asked the courts to dismantle the board of trustees of the Chinese Language Daily, and asked the courts to appoint the members of the board of trustees temporarily, it was tossed by the courts yesterday. The lifelong member of the Board of Education, Huang stated yesterday, that after they received the formal papers of the verdict, she will be fighting to get the rulings tossed out.

The spokesperson, Hong for the Chinese Language Daily pointed out, that the paper respected the rulings of the courts. The manager of the union of the Chinese Language Daily Enterprises, Wang said, that he hoped, that this ends the issues for good, to allow the papers to return to its normal ways of functioning, that in the future, the Department of Education only needed to work in supervising.

The Board of Trustees for the Chinese Language Daily didn’t follow the specifics to elect an brand new board, caused the internal disagreements from the board of trustees, and the Department of Education used the reasons for being a donor to the papers, to step in, to meddle in the reelection of the board of trustees, last October, the Department of Education had even gone to the courts, to ask for the entire board of trustees for the Chinese Language Daily to be dismantled; the former C.E.O., Lin who’d originally refused to step down from his post, quit last December.

The Department of Education stressed yesterday, that in the 65 documents they’d handed over to the courts yesterday, all had proven, that the Chinese Language Daily was sponsored by the Department of Education, that the evidence is there, they couldn’t understand why the judge ruled against them. Huang said, back in 1955, as the 17 members of the board of trustees signed the “Pact to Oversee All Assets of the Chinese Daily”, that meant that the paper was funded privately, not sponsored by the government, that the government was merely, a manager of the papers, and she’d believed it to be unreasonable, that the courts had, ruled that the Chinese Daily was funded by the entire board of trustees, that it’s a private enterprise.

Huang said that in the entire process, the Department of Education’s role “didn’t get involved for no reasons at all”, that they had, “just causes”, in the process, the Department of Education had specified how the Chinese Daily was set up, and provided for the evidences.

Huang said, that from a managerial stand point, she’d insisted that the Chinese Daily was sponsored by the government, a not-for-profit organization, otherwise, it would be difficult, to answer to the public.

And so, this is a paper that’s, written for the sakes of children, and, the government taking over means, that the government is trying to control what children will be given to read, and if that’s not communist behavior, then I really don’t what would be!
