This is his THIRD time, and he still didn’t have his license REVOKED, believe it or don’t! From the Front Page Sections, translated…

A Decade Ago, Lee Got on His Motorcycle After Being Intoxicated, Ran a Red Light with His Girlfriend Behind Him and Got Hit, His Girlfriend Died; Two Evenings Ago, He’d Gotten Drunk and Gotten Behind the Wheels, and Hit and Killed a Man in the Services, Lin. After the D.A. Interrogated Him, Finding Out This Was His Third-Time Getting Caught Drinking and Driving, Ordered His Bail Set at $200,000N.T.s; the Families of the Deceased Couldn’t Accept This, Stressed, “Repeated Offenders Like Him, We Need a New System of Punishment, to Prevent Tragedies from Keep on Happening”.

The police investigated, the man, Lee (age 30) who owned a shop of arcade games, was suspected of bypassing the double yellow lines as he drove drunk past Gong-Jien Road in Keelung, rammed into Lin (age 19) who was riding his motorcycle on his side of the streets; after Lee hit Lin, he’d driven a little more than two hundred meters forward, stopped, then, rushed back on foot, and cried out, “I’d, killed someone!”. Lin died on the way to the hospital, and his family was in deep grief.

The witnesses recalled, that after the motorcycle was hit, it’d, bounced onto the sidewalks, the gas spilled onto the roads, and there was a fire; the force of impact was very strong, the shattered pieces of the vehicle flew everywhere, to over 100 meters away, blood was, everywhere.

Lee’s breathalyzer showed 0.66, he’d admitted to having consumed six packs of beer at a shrimp yard somewhere in Shijr; and was driving home when he’d hit the motorist; the police reviewed over the surveillance and found, that the car was driving at over 100 kilometers an hour, that it was going 40 miles per kilometers above the speed limit, there wasn’t any skid marks, they’d charged Lee on manslaughter and public endangerment, along with other charges, Lee said, “I’d forgotten what I’d done from before, I’m sorry”.

The police found, that back in 2008, as Lin was riding his motorcycle after he got drunk with his girlfriend behind him, he’d run a red in Zhonghe District of Hsinbei City and was HIT, and his girlfriend had died, back then, his breathalyzer showed 0.66, on the charges of driving while intoxicated, the D.A. asked for a simplified sentence, he’d only ended up, spending 59 days in prison. And in 2004, Lee was charged with public endangerment after driving drunk, sentenced to three months.

The deceased, Lin’s father sighed, that the punishments for drunk driving were too lenient. Lin’s eldest uncle told, that he was a very good person, in order to help with the household economics, he’d signed up to serve the voluntary service terms, he was only going towards his third months in his army terms; he’d called out in pain on behalf of the families, hoped that the government will, take drunk driving more seriously, so there wouldn’t be another tragedy like what their family had come face to face with.

The secretary for the Keelung D.A.s office, Chou said, the D.A. who was prosecuting the case thought, that the two incidents were too far apart, that the defendant didn’t qualify for the repeated suit’s preventative terms.

And so, this was still NOT the very FIRST time this man who’d gotten drunk behind the wheels, had, KILLED someone, he’d killed his former girlfriend from his last time, and yet, there are, NO laws to prevent these people from getting drunk and getting behind the wheels, because there’s NO precedence, because we don’t take drunk driving as a SERIOUS crime yet!
