Back when I was younger, I’d watched the primetime soap with my eldest sister, and there would be scenes where the families fell under economically, the character of the eldest sister would always waive her own needs and desires, and carry up all the burdens of the families; back then, my eldest sister would turn her head to me, said, “Sis, don’t even think about me sacrificing myself for all of you!”, and I’d mumbled inside, “Give me a break, like the family would need your sacrifice!”
But, the unpredicted happened, over a dozen years, the scenes from the soaps had, happened.
My family’s business went bust, my mother was on the run, people came to collect the debts, the family members were all over the places, and as we’d returned home, we’d needed to make sure, that no one was, following us…………At this time, my eldest sister who was heading over to the U.S. told us, that she’d wanted to open a Taiwanese restaurant, hoped that our parents will move there to help her, and as my younger brother got out of the services, he’d gone, and joined them too, and my youngest brother who was laid off due to the downturn of economy, went too.
At the start of her restaurant opening, it was when we were at our worst economically, and naturally, the family didn’t have enough money to give to her for her business venture; as a foreign student, she couldn’t get enough loans, plus she’s a foreigner, and the banks hiked up the interest rates. The money it took to get her restaurant opened, the approvals of the documents, all of our expenses, it’d not, put out my eldest sister’s passions for it; she’d told me, that her dream was to open a restaurant, to get all the families there, that we’re, all helping to make her dreams come true, and the worst thing that can happen was, we all go on the run together.
After weathering through her first few years of twenty-hour work days as she’d started her business, in my brother-in-law’s support, and my eldest sister’s operating the shops, the business is getting better. A few years, my younger brother set up a subsidiary shop, and paid up ALL the debts in Taiwan. And now, our family had, transformed, into successful Chinese business people, and, we’re able to, lift our heads high in front of the friends and relatives too.
My eldest sister did just like she’d promised, didn’t sacrifice herself, but help found a brand new road for the rest of us, creating this win-win. She’d used her own methods, to keep watch over the whole family.
So, this, is the way this woman had, looked after her loved ones, she’d, taken care of them, not by giving them what they needed or asked her for, but instead, she’d, created these tools, so her loved ones can, help themselves up.
