Last year, a man Chen, got a new cell phone, and the very next month, he’d provided the number at $4,000N.T. for the scam rings to use, a victim was scammed $1.33 million N.T.s by this cell number, Chen was sentenced to being an accomplice to the scams, sentenced to eight months in jail, and he also needed to pay his victim $1.33 million N.T.s.
The verdict stated, that last July, Chen went to a telecommunications office in Shijr, got a cell phone number, then, he’d, sold the number at $4,000N.T. to an unknown person to be used at his disposal. In August, the scam rings used this number, posed as D.A. and other officers of the law, and claimed to the victims, that their information was leaked out and being used and they’d become, criminals, to scam the victims to give them the money in their accounts.
Chen told the judge, that he merely provided the cell phone number, he’d not understood why he was mandated to pay. The judge pointed out, that although Chen only provided the cell phone number, but he could’ve foreseen, that the scam artists would use it to scam, causing the victims to lose money, “There’s a cause and effect.”
The attorney, Lin pointed out, that giving the cell phone for the scam artists to use is a criminal office, and on the civil front, the individual who’d provided the phone is considered to be infringing, and they’d needed to, pay for the damages, however the real scammers scammed, that, is what needed to get paid back, it had nothing to do with how much you’d gotten in the process.
Lin reminded the public, that they shouldn’t, for the sake of money, handed their cell phone, or bank accounts over, to the scam artists, otherwise, there would be, collaterals, that people must be very careful on this.
So, this “victim” claimed, that he didn’t know what the cell phone was used for, and that, is I believe, a L-I-E! Because NO sane person is going to hand off a cell phone, and not ask the individual what it’ll be used for, and this losers claims of not knowing that his cell number would’ve been used for the scams, is still trying to, weasel his way out from breaking the law, but the judge wouldn’t let him, and, this lesson cost him, a whole lot more than the money he’d received, for the cell phones he’d, applied for!
