The fifty-year-old May had been on a smooth ride of life since the beginning of her life, but seven months after her child was born, her husband started using violence toward her, she’d gotten beaten to nearly blind in both her eyes; another woman, the fifty-year-old Jen got divorced after she was abused by her ex, and met a new boyfriend from work, and was beaten up again, and she’d witnessed her boyfriend having SEX with another woman in the basement; after the two women escaped their abusive relationships, they’d found their lives back with the help of the Garden of Hope Foundation, they’re now, calling out to all battered women, to “Step out bravely”.
The Hsinbei Chapter of the foundation had to date, counseled over a hundred battered women and teenagers, given shelter to over three hundred victims of abuse as well as their children too, and stepped in, to intervene in over 1,200 cases of violence. For this, Gong-Liang Gu Foundation had put on the Chinese operas, and donated partially of the sales of the tickets to the foundation.
May currently volunteers in the local foundation chapter, she said, we didn’t do anything wrong, “if we’re not brave, we couldn’t possibly protect ourselves or our young”, that we must step out into the light. May’s daughter is already six years old, she’d picked up her piggy bank said, “After I fed my piggy, I shall donate it all to the foundation, to help more people like us.”
So, this is the good work that this foundation had been doing, it’d provided a shelter program for battered women, helped them gain a life skill, so they can live using what they have, so the women will be able to, break free from the abusive relationship they were once in, to take care of their children, and the performance arts program are in support of the good work of this foundation too!
