The car wreck on National Freeway #3 had caused three deaths, the seventy-one year-old elderly woman, Lin, who’s registered in Taichung with her daughter’s home, but for the sake of looking after her severely handicapped second son and her five-year-old grandson, two years ago, she’d moved to Nantou, rented a property, and set up a small grocery store there, the family of three relied on the earnings of this small shop to survive; yesterday, that news of death came, the friends and families who knew this elderly woman all sighed, “such a trying life she’d had.”
“Good people aren’t blessed with a good life!”, Lin’s female friend, Hsieh as she’d gone to the small grocery shop to collect her things, as others inquired about the kind of person that Lin was, “She’s had a hard life, but she doesn’t blame her life’s hardships on anybody, she’s really kind to people!”
Hsieh told, that Lin has two sons and two daughters, that in the past, they were, very well off, had bought a property in Taichung from before, until her second son was hit by a car and had a stroke, in order to treat her second son, she’d spent up ALL of her savings, and after three surgeries, he’s still severely handicapped; the eldest son was serving his time in prison for drug charges, back then, her grandson who’s not yet three was left in her care. In order to reduce the cost of living, she’d taken her son and grandson to Zhushang to rent a place and start her small shop.
The woman responsible for the goings on of the local borough, Chang said, that Lin has a grocery shop by Li-Xing Road, where she also owned and operated a noodle stand, it’d been going since two years ago, but it couldn’t bring in enough money, in order to reduce her rent, to increase her earnings, she’d moved her shop into the alleys, and already set up the new signs, her shop was set to open today.
Hsieh said, that because Lin was about to reopen for business, yesterday she’d taken her grandson, her son, along with a friend, Liao to a master, to find out what would be the best time to open for business today, and asked for blessings of a better life; as her eldest son was released from prison, he’d found work up north too, they’d thought that their lives are now, back on track, but, everything fell out of their hands.
Chang said, that Lin and her sons were registered locally in Taichung, and was on the low-income government assistance, but she’d rented and lived in Zhushang, that she will do all she can, to help with the final affairs.
Liao, who’d gone with Lin and her family southbound also lost her life, the families went back to the scene of the accident to call her spirits, and they’d stated, that the cause of the accident, they will leave for the justice systems to figure out.
