On overcoming the obstacles that may not seemed to be that big a deal to all of us in their lives, a HUGE step for these visually impaired students that’s for certain! From the Newspapers, translated…
The fifteen-year-old Sammy was blind since birth, two years ago, he’d started performing water ballet. But although he could swim already, he’d still felt a bit fearful as he’d begun, through the one-on-one training given to him by the coach, he can now, flip, dance in the water now, and he’d even gone to Japan with his teammates to compete too.
The Taiwanese Water Ballet Association’s chapter manager, Shih said, training the visually impaired and students with Downs’s syndrome, it’d helped them become more coordinated, and it also helps elevate their level of self-confidence as well.

Sammy who’s legally blind loves music, and he’d sang along with the music in the water ballet sessions in the pools, flashing that radiant smile of his. He’d told that he couldn’t see since he was very young, and although he knew how to swim, but two years ago, as he’d gotten involved in the water ballet sessions, as he went into the pools, he was still, a bit scared, with the coaches holding his hand and legs, to show him how to move, that was how he’d learned the water ballet. Sammy said, that the biggest enjoyment he has doing the water ballets was hearing and dancing along with good music.
The coach of this group of visually impaired students was Julia, other than teaching the students, she’d also lead the students in the performances also; the candidate for city council, Chen said, that three months ago, when she’d heard that there was assistance needed, Julia not only helped the students learn to swim, she’d also taught them to speak English voluntarily as well.
So, it took this group of visually impaired young people a lot of hard work, to get to where they are right now, from being afraid of the water, to being able to swim fluidly and performing the water ballets, that takes a lot, I mean, I can’t even swim yet, and look at these young people, they’re simply just, amazing!!!
