Despite the hardships he’d faced at the start of setting up his own business, he’d, refused to get defeated, and just persisted, which was how he’d become, successful at the end, from the Newspapers, translated…

The fifty-three year-old Chen worked in the food industries, twenty one years ago, he’d started his own business with a preowned pancake machine, but because his skills weren’t honed yet, there’s, a high rate of his products being bad, didn’t last long, with the packaging being too rough, he couldn’t sell any of what he’d made.  Having only a limited funding, he was so poor he’d once taken loans from the loan sharks to make his ends meet, and his friends and relatives turned away from him too, but he’d gone on the hard-to-kill spirits of the roaches, and, turned his own life around, making his pancakes.

Chen and his wife recalled the days of the past when they’d started entrepreneurship, as her husband started his own business, their eldest son was not yet one year-old, with the heavy economic burdens, and, the household economics landed on her, working as a buyer for a food factory.

Back then, they’d put up their house for a loan, and the cost of the raw materials were from the loans given by their relatives; during the hardest days, the three of them had only a huge bowl of plain noodle soup together.

Chen said, around 1996, there were at least TEN traditional pancake makers in Chiayi, that if there’s no separating of the marketplaces, there is NO way to compete, and so, her husband made the designed style pancakes, and customized pancakes, and gone on a separate route compared to his fellow pancake makers.

“Life is like a pancake, gets better as you chewed on it more!”, Chen stated, that entrepreneurship is a road with no returns, only through persistence, can one see the light at the end of the tunnel, and maybe, the processes of it was difficult, and there are failures, but, they’d made the failures into the nutrients, and, step by step, slowly, anybody can taste the sweetness of their hard-earned success.

And the pancakes made by Chen started selling by 2009, and now, it’d sold at over a hundred million pieces per year.

And because how this man just, refused to give up on his dreams, the more times he was defeated, he’d only become stronger, to face another defeat, that, was the spirits he’d carried, to making his own business work, and he’d become, a huge success.
