The inspirational tale of how a handicapable individual pursued his own dreams, from the Newspapers, translated…
The 45-year-old residence from the Yilan Home for the Handicapped, “Chang” had a slanted spine and cerebral palsy, he felt most comfortable, when his wheelchair is adjusted to a 45-degree angle; and he was only able to see the world, from the forty-five degree angle, he’d loved taking photographs; with only a 45-degree angle lift to look at his world, every single photo he’d taken showed the world from his views, and it’d added a little more creativity to his work. He said, even as the views are different, with various angles, the objects showed up differently, and he wouldn’t get tired, trying each and every angle out.
Four years ago, in the class of the Luodong Community College, “Chang” was able to learn how to select the scenes from his instructor, Lin, and it’d, accidentally, set off his “photographer soul”, his mother gave him a digital camera, and no matter where he went, he wouldn’t go without it, at first he’d enjoyed taking pictures of the objects around his bed, the still objects in his classrooms, slowly, he’d started photographing people who are busying about around him, and started documenting everything living around him.

The simple camera couldn’t adjust the light, the shutter speeds, but Chang enjoyed the process of capturing the things that intrigued him; because cerebral palsy affected his motor control movements, every time Chang pressed the shutters, it’d taken, eight, and sixteen continuous shots, and in four years, he’d taken over thousands of photos.
This year, the Yilan Nursing Home wanted a photograph that represented the facility, Chang pulled the volunteers around with him through the corners of the home, and took photos of his favorite spot under the trees outside, he’d taken over hundreds of photographs, and the volunteers selected twelve, then, had the residents, and the caretakers select the one that represented the facility the most.
The facility hosted a photo exhibit on Chang’s behalf, “The 45-Degree Angle Show”, the twelve photos were all shot from a 45-degree angle looking upward, posted onto the walls, they felt very artistic, it’d become a unique quality that only Chang possessed.
“There’s no need to fear replication of this angle”, the viewers chuckled and told, Chang’s mother also expressed happily, that she will buy him a better camera.
So, despite this man’s handicap, he was able to, use a unique perspective, to see the world, and, showed it to the rest of the world how he saw the world, and, because of his creativity, he’d gotten known, and that still just showed, that no matter what, so long as you keep on pursuing your dreams, and keep persisting, you will, reach your dreams, like this man was able to.
