Note: this is NOT, must I repeat myself again and again, and again??? directed toward ANYBODY out there!!!
STUCK, as the little boy who was abused AND neglected by his own parents, Peter Pan (a false name, to protect the identity of the “client”???) has a difficult time, trusting people, because from his earlier experiences with his two PRIMARY attachment figures (mommy & daddy), he’d learned, that they can’t be counted on, and, even as he’d encountered some good women as he’d turned into a man (a little boy, disguised into a GROWN man is more like it!!!), he’d found ways, to detach from them way before they’re about to abandon him, as it’s always better, to be the one leaving, than the one, being LEFT behind, as his childhood experiences had, taught him.
He’s still STUCK, as that little boy who was abused AND neglected by his parents, and, he’d, longed for that love that NEVER existed in his childhood years as an adult, and, because he didn’t FIX himself (go through catharsis, working through ALL of the issues from his early childhood years???), his relationships, all ended, awfully.
One day, Peter Pan found that open window (in London, was it???), with that little girl, kneeling by her bed, saying her bedtime prayers, and he was, drawn to her, there’s, just something about her that’s, too hard to resist, and so, he’d gone in, and introduce himself to her.
And, the girl, Wendy, saw him, and, she’d allowed her maternal instincts to take over, as she’d looked after her younger brothers when her parents worked and traveled away from home. Peter Pan found what he’d needed in Wendy, and, Wendy found a new sense of purpose, caring for Peter Pan, which had, fulfilled her maternal desires, from never having a mother who was there, emotionally, and physically…
And, it wasn’t until, through taking care of that little boy who refused to grow up, she’d matured into adulthood, and realized, that hey, Peter Pan is always going to be that little boy, STUCK, having been abused AND neglected by his own parents.
So was Wendy, although she wasn’t, abused, she was, just forced, to take on the mothering role as both her parents busied themselves at work.
