An unwed woman, Lin in Kaohsiung found her one-and-a-half-year-old young son dead, his body was completely black, and maggots were growing out of his corpse, she’d asked her female roommate to call the police for her; as the police arrived, they’d smelled that the room was wreaking of the odors of the dead corpse, suspected that the young child’s been dead for at least two days, and he hadn’t been fed in a very long time, there’s a huge chance, that the infant child was, starved to death, and, they’d charged the unwed mother with negligence homicide and abandoning her own young, causing him to die; after the D.A. interrogated the mother, they’d sent her back, while they waited for the autopsy results.
The police found, that the twenty-year-old woman, Lin had three sons, the three-year-old eldest son was with her ex-boyfriend, and in his care; then, Lin had two more sons with her currently boyfriend, Hsu who is twenty-nine years old, the child who’d died was their first born, the boyfriend started serving in prison for robbery just this June, and she’d given birth to her younger son just this past month.
The Fire Department close to noon yesterday received the emergency call from Lin, claimed that “a child had died in my house”, they’d arrived with the police, and found the residence to be unkempt, and the infant male died awhile ago; he was in a diaper when he died, and, was bandaged for the burn on his left thig, the body was completely black, with maggots growing, and the smell of the dead corpse spread throughout the apartment, the infant male wasn’t too thin, but was small for his age.
Lin originally told the officers, that at eleven o’clock on the 6th this month she’d bathed the child, wrapped up the burn wound, and fed him, and on the 7th, she’d gone to put the covers on him as she’d heard him cried.
But, as the D.A. interrogated her, Lin changed her statement, that the last time she went to feed her son was in the midnight hours of the 6th, and that at two in the morning, when she’d gone to check on him, he seemed to have a fever, but she’d not had a thermometer, so she didn’t know what his temperature was, she’d not had the money to take her son to the doctor’s either; until before her son died yesterday, Lin said she’d been caring for the younger brother of the child who’d died.
The police went by Lin’s statement, and deducted that the infant wasn’t fed for as long as 57 hours on end, that if he’d died of starvation, or because of the cold, they’d needed to wait for the autopsy to clarify.
The police found, that the young boy who’d died was a premature born, was sick a lot, and because he had a cold, was left in the other room all alone by Lin; Lin lived off of the $2,500N.T. per month from the social services department, and the money from her relatives and friends and family, at the end of last month, she’d just moved in, to the place that belonged to her roommate’s friend’s.
The Kaohsiung Department of Social Service told, that Lin and her families didn’t have enough resources to take care of her children, and, Lin’s newborn son will be placed into emergency custody.
So, this mother had, starved her own child to death, maybe it wasn’t on purpose, but, she was, negligent, she has absolutely NO clue of how to take care of children, and yet, she’d had three, no, make that TWO, because one of them got STARVED to death by her! And this, is just what happens, when the mothers were unwed, and too young to take the responsibilities for their own young!
