A child, using figurative language, to express how he’d felt, speaking in riddles here, translated…
My four-year-old son with his friend, squatted a corner at the park, and they’d started roleplaying the game of ice cream vendor; as the two of them played, suddenly, they got into a physical altercation with other kids who are passing by, my son screamed aloud, “We will NOT let up our spot!” what are they reenacting? I’d immediately stepped in, to resolve this conflict, and in the end, I’d managed, to persuade my son to play in another are, and thankfully, the parent of the other child was very straightforward, waved her hands, said, “it’s normal that kids get into it when playing”.
At bath time, we’d started talking about what happened earlier, why couldn’t he play with an unknown child, “Because my heart wasn’t opened for business yet! If my heart is opened, then, he could come in, and I would give him a TON of doughnuts. But, I can give you one anytime.”, then, he’d, given me, a big hug.
This was truly, a difficult one, as a mom, I’d hoped, that my son’s heart doesn’t have to tire out working straight for 24/7, but, I’d hoped, that he didn’t just open and close his heart as he wished to.
but when they’re older, they can clearly state it…not my photo still…
So, this, is a child’s way of telling everybody that he wanted to be left alone, and, from the interactions, it’s easy to see, that the writer’s child may just be unwelcoming toward the unknown child who tried to invade into he and his friend’s personal space, and, the child’s explanation of how his heart wasn’t open for business yet, was a creative way to say, that he’s not yet ready, to play with the stranger.
