How appreciation is shown, by this individual whom the writer had, helped out whenever she can, translated…
For years on end, I’d volunteered at XX Foundation, hoping to help the children with the physical handicaps. Getting along with them for awhile, they’d become, like families to me, we’d become, very close to one another.
Working as a volunteer there, seeing how they were having it hard walking around and about, not being able to do things well, I’d been, more than willing to, lend them a helping hand. Like how that afternoon, the dark clouds had, taken up the skies, looked like it was about to rain, Yu walked out with her cane, stumbled, to get to the bus stations; I saw a cab parked by the opposite of the street, I’d bent downward, and carried her over there.
now, imagine how difficult it must be, for someone with limited mobility, to make it from scratch…photo ffrom online…
As Yu alighted the cab, I’d asked the driver to remain patient, to wait awhile, Yu wasn’t mobile, with both hands, tied onto her walker, it would take her longer, to get out of the cab, that she may have, caused him to lose time, and that if he would, please just, wait for her, the driver nodded and said, “Sure, no problem.”
Or, maybe it’s how I’d given them a helping hand when they’d needed me to, and made the baked goods, to share with them, making them happy, they’d shown their gratitude toward me frequently.
That day, I’d arrived early at the office, as I’d entered, Yu stumbled toward me, and pulled out two cupcakes from her bag, and placed them in my hands, said shyly, “Happy birthday! I’d made them yesterday, it’s yummy!”
With the cupcakes in my hands, I was moved beyond expressions, I’d forgotten about my birthday. I couldn’t help, but reach my arms out to hug her. Think about it, a child without the mobilities, needing to beat the eggs, to sift the flours, to stir the batter, how much time it’d taken.
with the care and love, going into each and every step…photo from online still…
Thinking about how hard she must’ve worked, to bake the cupcakes, I’d felt moved to tears. Other than feeling grateful, there’s, nothing else to feel, this was, the most, precious birthday I’d ever gotten in life.
So, this is the reciprocation of the love, that this woman showed to this individual with the handicaps, and, the individual was more than grateful, for the small things like helping her into a cab, and so, the woman this woman had helped, showed her thanks for her, by baking a cupcake for her personally, and it’s appreciated, because the woman is handicapped, and it must’ve taken her a very long time, to make the baked goods, to show her appreciation.
