An Example of Who I Want to Be
A teacher who is a source of inspiration for her students, someone who’s a good example, of how to make one’s own life matter, translated…
Every day I’d sold the patched purses in the marketplace, as my clients commended me on how skillful I am, I’d always remembered the teacher who’d taught me this craft—Mrs. Hsiang Chen.
She’s optimistic, because her legs atrophied, she’d relied on her two hands for everything. There were only ten students as she started teaching, but, she’s very strict, if we’d failed to make the perfect stitches, she’d made us take it all apart, and do it all over again, demanded us to live up to her standards, plus, because of how thin the needle was, and how easily it was, to prick our hands, so after the first few classes, there were, only just, five of us remaining. As we entered into the advance levels, it’d become, even harder, once, there were, over ten designs we’d needed to, finish stitching up, and the colors are too close, my eye stopped working right, and as I took the stitches apart, the cloth became, malformed, and my hands were pricked too many times, I’d felt defeated, and started tearing up.
My teacher saw, she’d tapped my shoulders lightly as an encouragement. She’d told me how she was immobile, and she still managed to learn, that I’m able-bodied, how can I quit so easily? In order to not let her down, I’d, wiped away my tears, and conquered my own hardships with my strong will and patience.

And now, this skill had not just improved my life for the better, it’d, enriched my life too.
So, this, is a great example of how a teacher managed to, encourage a student, to keep working hard toward a goal, and the skills in sewing that this woman learned, had helped her make a living for herself, thanks to the teacher that kept pushing her to achieve!
