The Targeted Population of Scam Artists: Those Who’d Just Started Working, Those Who Had Just Graduated from Middle and High Schools

After a statistical measure was conducted, this, is the results of the targets of the scam artists, from the Newspapers, translated…

The Results from the Investigations Done by the Hsinbei Police Department Found: the Age of the Victims of Scams are Younger These Past Two Years, There Were More Cases of “Identity Thefts”, and More Women Scammed Than Men.

With the number of cases of scams rising higher, which group is most easily scammed?  The Hsinbei Police Department investigated, that the victims of scams over the past two years, consisted of twenty-percent of middle and high school aged victims, and there showed an increase for those with less than an elementary school education too, and, of the victims, there were, more women than men.

The analysis by the city government pointed out, that “falsified identities” made up the majority of the cases; “Using the ATM to set up the installment payments” was the most widely used way of the scammers, it’d risen up to the second cause of scams.  The city government recommended that the police zoomed in on the certain types of scams, and inform the high-risk group of victims, that it may, help reduce the number of people being scammed.

By the estimates of the Hsinbei Police Department, there were 5,439 cases of fraud and scam in 2012, and on average, there were, about fifteen cases a day; in 2016, the number was reduced to 3,336, with only nine cases per day.  And the cases that were solved rose from 74.6 percent to 90.3 percent, and 2014 was the dividing point between the increase of the cases of fraud and scam being solved, and after the police cracked the way the scam rings scammed, and gotten more knowledge on how the scams were conducted, the measures the scam artist took, the rate of cases solved had been on the increase ever since.

The police originally believed, that the elderly may have been more gullible, in falling for the scams, but they’d found, that most of the victims were in the age group of teens, youths, the makeup of the population of victims were mostly in middle or high school, even more than the younger age groups’.

The police department pointed out, that the population makeup of the scams earlier on were mostly elderly, but now, many years had since passed, perhaps, it’s because most had already been scammed one way or another, or that those who weren’t scammed all kept their guards up, now, the younger generations who’d just started working had, fallen target; the middle and high school age students may not know the laws and the procedures, which rendered them even more gullible to the scammers.

So, because the older population had already had the experiences of someone attempting to scam them, or heard about how the scam artists worked, they’d become, better educated, and stopped falling for it, and now, the younger generations became targets, due to lack of life experiences, and just being young…
