Life, the Obstacle Course

The Teacher Made All the Rules

School is a HUGE adjustment, especially for those children who are starting out in preschool or kindergarten, translated…

My son who’d started preschool in September, after a week’s classes, he’d demanded to have a day off.  I thought, it’s best, that he should, take time for himself, after all, being inside a strange environment long-term, is not good for a four-year-old child.

the child, already, BURNT out from going to school that started in September…photo from the papers…

I took him to the park, he’d started describing how depressed he felt, “When the teacher told us to sit, we must, when she told us to go to the bathrooms, we go, when she said to drink some water, then we must, when she told us to eat our meals, we ate, she’d told us to place a napkin under our lunch boxes, and we had to do it to………”

After I’d heard him rant, I’d become, depressed myself, can’t imagine how I’d, made it through thirty years before, so I can only tell him, “Your teacher is really talkative, isn’t she?”, he’d given me the eye roll, I’d continued, “but the teacher isn’t necessarily right, so she can only, set up a ton of rules.”  He’d stated, “She’d made them all up.”  My dear son, how can I make you understand, that for the sake of convenience, the adults set up so many rules in the world, and call it, becoming, more civilized?

So, this, is what’s going on, in this young child’s first day of kindergarten, he’d become, maladapted, because his mother allowed him to be free, and be himself, and now, he’s in school, there are those, rules, set up by the adults who don’t know him, that he’d had to, abide by, imagine how difficult it must be, for this young child who’s just, set foot, into the outside world for the first time, and this, is only the beginning of ALL those god DAMN rules set up by others that he will be forced, to abide by as he gets even older too!
