I saw one this morn, on my way to get my newspaper, it was just, standing still, on the leaves of the trees outside, maybe, it’s resting, or perhaps, waiting, for death??? I wouldn’t know!
Butterfly with the broken wings, what happened to you, darling, did you barely get away, with your breaths, from being preyed on by a big bird (or a small one, who knows???)? I can only imagine the trials you’d gone through, and, perhaps, you’d found that special butterfly boy or girl, and mated with her/him, and so now, your life is, about to end, and you’re just, laying down and die, I wouldn’t know…

Butterfly with the broken wings, I see that you’d been, damaged, with the wings, torn off, jagged right ‘round the sides, and, you wouldn’t, make that good a specimen, so, chances are, that even AFTER you’d “passed on”, nobody’s going to give a DAMN about a little butterfly with the torn up wings like you, but know this, someone on this god DAMN F***ING (maxed out on ALL my “swear words”, remember???) EARTH gives a DAMN, I’d noticed you, struggling, for your final seconds to minutes of life………
Butterfly with a broken wing, you don’t have to worry now, you can just, swallow that, final breath in you, come what may, and, I shall, keep you in my heart, my mind, and my memories, of this, strange, but not-so-strange-at-all encounter I’d had with you, on my way, to get my morning papers today.
