The police investigated, that Yen (age 60) had a business in China from before, he’d retired and returned back to Taiwan, and was introduced to the man, Lin (age 55) and his wife, Chu (age 54) who worked in the fisheries to raise the groupers; two years ago, the three of them rented a large fish farm, and started raising the groupers from small, to now, they’re already about five kilograms in weight each, both parties had put in about five million dollars in investments.
The police investigated, that other than his own retirement pensions, Yen also had the pressures from the bank loans, in May of this year, he’d asked the Lins to give him the profits, Lin believed, that it’d taken them this much time, to get the fishes to grow to five kilograms each, that if they kept raising them like so, the fish can double their sizes and weights, and they can get more money for the fish, in the end, they’d disagreed, and Yen said he wanted out of the partnership.
The police said, that Yen knew that the Lins would go out to the fish farms at around three in the morning by motorcycle to feed the fish, so in the early hours of yesterday morning he got drunk, then, took a 30-centimeter spear and injured the couple, Lin suffered injuries on his neck and head, but still fought hard, to disarm Yen, but, as Lin’s wife ran to the fishery about a hundred meters away, flipped over the walls to get help, she was still caught, and was hacked in the head over ten times, both the husband and the wife were hacked so many times that their face can’t even be identified, died immediately, the witnesses called the police immediately; after Yen committed the murders, he’d returned back to the workers’ shack, and took pesticides in an attempt to commit suicide.
The police found a note in Yen’s shack, it’d mentioned how he’d lost three to four million dollars from the bad investments he’d made, with the specifications of the false records in the bookkeeping.
The locals said, that the Lins during June of this year had asked a relative, who was also a local government official, to settle the deal with Yen, and Yen insisted on selling the fish, while Lin wanted to keep the fish longer, in the end, they’d agreed to split up the profits evenly, based off of the weights, and were successful in splitting up the earnings; but in the process of finding the buyers, Yen felt that his partner had overcharged him for the feeds, and found that he’d rented the fishers for a whole lot less, and Yen started telling everybody he knew, that the Lins had, cheated him, and, the Lins called Yen out on libeling, and the arguments started back up.
“The groupers we’d invested in are still in the ponds, if we sell them at the prices of $180 N.T. per 600 grams, we’d not lost any money, at most, we’d not factored in the hours worked”, Lin stated, that after they’d split, Yen’s pond was expiring, and the owner of the pond decided to not continue renting it to him, and because the owner of the pond was a relative of the Lin’s, he may have suspected that Lin had said something to him, to stop him from renting him the pond, it’d added to the displeasures between them, but, nobody ever guessed, that Yen was going to murder the couple in such brutality, then commit suicide.
So, this is a murder, caused by money still because the man believed, that his partner in business was trying to CHEAT him out of his investment, and in a moment of anger, he’d committed murder, and this murder is caused by money primarily.
