A married officer, Lin was accused of having an extramarital affair with a married woman, and accompanied her to have three abortions; although he’d insisted he was only, doing a friend a favor, accompanying her to the doctors, but because in the criminal courts he’d admitted to having an affair, the Taichung District Court found him guilty for obstructing the woman’s husband’s spousal rights, and mandated him pay the woman’s husband for emotional distress.
The woman’s husband accused, that officer Lin in 2011, used the opportunity writing up a ticket to connect with his wife; and the two of them from 2011 to 2014, had over a hundred sexual intercourse encounters, causing his wife to get pregnant three times. He said, that Lin had accompanied his wife to the hospital three times, but his wife couldn’t withstand the stresses, she’d admitted to having an extramarital affair to him.
He said, Lin, as a police officer, not only showed NO self-restraints, had an extramarital with his wife, that his behaviors had destroyed his family, caused him emotional distress, and affected both their families, as well as children too; Lin had offended his right as a spouse, and should pay him $1.8 million N.T.’s for the emotional distress.
Officer Lin denied the allegations of an affair, claimed that the woman works in Taichung on her own, that she’d come in contact with many other men, that there was NO proof that he’d impregnated her; he said, because she didn’t have anybody she knew in Taichung, and her husband was a gambler, didn’t come home, that, was why she’d asked him to help her out.
He’d stated, that as an officer, he’d wanted to keep his distance from her, but she’d threatened to commit suicide, threatened to go to the press, he became fearful, that, was why he’d gone to the hospital to see her get an abortion, and that the woman felt taken, that, was why she’d libeled against him, in the first trial, he’d admitted to having an affair, for the sake of “silencing the involved parties.”
But, the family court judge in Taichung found, that Lin was charged criminally for the affair for adultery, and if the two of them weren’t involved, why would the woman need to risk destroying her own marriage, and risk getting charged with libel and slander to sue Lin, the judge believed, that Lin had, offended the right of the woman’s husband’s spousal rights.
Yeah, and you’d tried to weasel, but it didn’t work, because you’d had sex with a married woman, caused her to get abortions, and you’d tried weaseling, well, the judge examined the facts, and found you guilty, of ADULTERY, and now, you will, PAY the woman’s husband.
