A lesson in parenting, learned, by the mother, taught to her, by the young child, wow, who’d thought, huh, that a young child can teach HER own mommy how to be a better parent??? Translated…
It was the year that my husband changed tracks, he’d gone to work early, turned home late every single day, I was, left alone, to care for three children from ages two to six, I’d lived my days hurriedly.
One day as I was busying about in the kitchens, my youngest daughter started getting fussy, when I washed my hands and went to check on her, my eldest daughter already soothed her younger sister completely. I’d immediately praised her, “Wow, you’re, an expert big sister in caring for your younger sister!”
something like this, but NOT as elaborate…from online…
A few days later, I’d received my eldest daughter’s handmade manual, a small book made by her, with phonetic spellings throughout, the title of the book was, “Tips of Taking Care of Ying-Ying”. Before school, she’d told me, “Mom, with my book, you won’t have to worry when I’m in school.”
Other than feeling shocked, I’d read the volume carefully, and, my eldest made three categories in the book: How to Get Ying-Ying’s Attention, How to Wake Ying-Ying Up, How to Put Ying-Ying to Bed. Every section had precise descriptions, for instance, in the How to Wake Ying-Ying Up section, first, watch carefully, second, you can’t pull on her, last, speak softly to her. I was shocked, wow, didn’t I do that daily?
Thinking back, the grinds from the daily life had already, reduced my patience, and my gentleness. In me not realizing, the rules I’d lived by had, been lost, it’s a wonder, that my eldest daughter would worry. Other than feeling ashamed, this small volume was a huge wake up call, it’d given me, a needed lesson in parenting.
something that’s, like this, perhaps??? Photo from online…
So, this still just showed, how watchful children are, they’re, watching EVERY single one of our moves, and, if we don’t behave ourselves right, then, surely enough, they will, start misbehaving too, because children learn from MODELING their adults, but this kid gave her mama a needed wakeup call!
