Knock Three Times on the Desks

Developing some sort of a secret method of communication with each other at the offices, translated…

Back when I was part-timing, there was a manager whose temper was rash, with a weird personality, and when he’d started giving people hell, his eyes rolled around, and he would find the chances, to tattle on his subordinates.  And yet, for the sake of a paycheck, everybody got mad, but couldn’t say anything, just kept everything in.  Because he had a thick pair of glasses, we’d secretly called him “cobra”.

Every time that “cobra” came over, it’s time, for us, coworkers, to all, work together.  Yo who’s cubicle was next to mine was especially passionate, every time he saw “Cobra” coming our way, he’d coughed twice, to tell me to be careful.  But, the coughs sounded too fake, I’d laughed aloud, which made “Cobra” stared at us with suspicion.

And so, we’d, changed our ways of signaling, we’d knocked three times on our desks as we saw him approaching, then, we’d, sat up straight, successfully, dodged the cobra’s gazes.

Later, my coworker and I both left that office, but, thinking about that experience, it’d still, roused a lot of things up.

So, you were, comrades, in this war against your manager, and, the two of you developed a secret way of signaling one another, which established that tighter rapport between you and your coworker, that, is making a friend in the workplace, which is why you still savored the memories of those days still.
