I’m No Longer Angry

The interactions of a mother and her young son, translated…

We’d gone out for supper that evening, my child got angry at his father for some reasons, and switched to come to sit next to me, and turned his body away from his dad, and announced to me, “I don’t want anything to eat anymore!”

Sure, so, my husband and I started chowing down, five minutes later, my son turned his head, told me, in a light voice, “Mom, I’m thinking of a reason NOT to feel mad.”  “Okay, after you think of one, then tell me.”  Three minutes passed by, he’d, cued me again, mom, can you ask me again if I’m still angry?”, oh, that was, quick, “baby, are you still angry?”, in a second’s time, he’d turned his head, replied, “Nope, I’m no longer, angry now”.  Then, he’d started, eating his food.  As he was about to finish his food, I’d asked him why he’d stopped, feeling angry, he’d shrugged his shoulders, and I didn’t feel compelled, to prod him any further.

an example of what NOT to do!  Photo from online…

Using positive thinking methods, we’re actually, in awe of our son’s finding his own way out, how he was able to, control his emotions, and, soothe himself too.  But we also know, a lot of parents, relatives, and elders believed, that children should NOT get mad at their parents, and because of that, they’d lost the opportunities to engage in meaningful discussions on the events.

So from this, we learned, that it’s OKAY, for your young kids (or, kids at ANY age for that matter!) to get angry at you, and just leave them be when they’re fuming, and, when they’re ready to, they will, come and tell you what it was that made them so angry, there’s NO need, for you, STUPID parents, to prod, besides, if you prod, it may only anger your kid more, as from my own experiences before, when I got angry, I just want to be left alone, so, let your children have some quiet, alone time first
