Life, the Obstacle Course

Instead of Thinking, Start Acting

Comparing these two people, I’d preferred to live like the writer, wouldn’t you???  Translated…

From before when I thumbed across, “Don’t Let Your Age be the Barriers to Achieve Your Dreams”, I can very well, connect to it, I’d wanted, to shout out to all, to act on it, to make your own dreams a reality.

In the six children, I’m, the dumbest, I couldn’t make the grades, and now, I’m still, NOWHERE near the top, but, I’d done, all right—graduated from grad school, with a stable job.  From before when I got out of technical high school’s night department, who can guess, that I’d, achieved this much?  The elders said, that my achievement was all because I’d known how to plan out the things I did in life from when I was younger, but I’d wanted to tell them, that it wasn’t that I knew how to make the plans, but it was, because I knew, how to reach my own goals.

focused, wtih her eyes on the prize!  Not my photograph…

From when I was growing up, I’d dreamed of going to college, after I married, I’d worked, and studied at the same time for my exams, and at the age of twenty-nine, I was accepted into the university.  Later, because my coworkers graduated from the graduate schools, it’d, sparked my thought of furthering my own education, and, at age forty-seven, I’d tested into the graduate programs, and, two years later, I successfully earned my master’s.

I’d envied how my classmates knew how to play the piano, can draw, and write calligraphy, and, after I became capable of affording the courses, I’d, taken them too, although, because I wasn’t talented enough, I couldn’t become an expert, but, I’d still, found values in using these hobbies to, entertain myself.

Looking at my older sister by one year, she’d studied well since when she was younger, and, as she’d started working, she’d stated many times, that she wanted to work in the beauty industries, but, thirty plus years had, gone by, and she’s, still, STUCK at that accounting job she’d started working in; she saw how I’d finished grad school, she’d hollered too how she wanted to get a college degree, but, she’d not done any preparatory work at all.  When she showed an interested in the talents I was learning, I’d encouraged her to sign up for community college classes nearby, I’d even downloaded the course schedules for her too, but, she’d said, that the no more than five kilometer’s distance of the school from her house is too far.  Because she’d not made an attempt, so, she’d constantly complained on how boring her life was.

And now, we are both, over fifty, we’d gone past the halfway marker of our lives, I truly hope, that my eldest sister can work up the courage, to get OUT of her comfort zone, to try new things, so she won’t have any regrets later on in life.

So we have, two women, one of whom set a goal, and worked hard to achieve it and had, and there’s, her older sister, who’d only complained of how boring life became, but, was unwilling, to take that initial step, to change her own life for the better, and, WHO do you think would have a more enriched life after retirement, huh???
