My ninety-year-old mother showed signs of dementia in the beginning stages, at home, because of the “dusk syndromes”, it’d caused her relationship with the families to turn tense, I’d wanted to send her into a nursing home many times, but, she’d always used reasons like “I’m being abandoned by my children”, “I don’t want to cost my children the money”, and other reasons, to not live in assisted living. At the beginning of July, she felt in her bedroom, broken her hip bones, was taken to the hospital, and had a surgery; and, because of this “opportunity’, a week after her surgery, we’d told her that she needed to be in rehabilitation, to coax her into living in the nursing homes.
The cost of the stay, plus other costs, like diapers, and the possible costs of medical care, it’d cost about $30,000 N.T.s to $40,000N.T.s, I’d called the tax offices, to ask if I can write this off when I file for my tax returns? The tax offices told me, “the medical charges can get written off, but the non-medical fees can’t”.
We were glad, that we are still, able, to afford my mother’s care, but, we can’t get any assistance from the government at all, and, we can’t file for a claim on our personal tax returns either. So, the Long-Term Care 2.0 that the current government is pushing forth is so highly priced, how can it be, of use to us?
Because elderly caretaking costs a L-O-T, especially for the demented patients, there’s a LOT of personnel, a lot of materials, the diapers, the special preparations of foods, etc., etc., etc., and after ALL that gets factored it, everything is returned BACK to the citizens who required this sort of services from the government, as well as the taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars.
