He had it coming, as he’d, abandoned his own child when she was very young! From the Front Page Sections, translated…
A man, Hsu got some pregnant out of wedlock when he was younger, had a daughter, and, didn’t even bother with his own child, even as her daughter needed the tuition money in high school and called him up for help, he’d, ignored, using the excuse of his serving his time in jail, he was in a car accident; causing the daughter unable to afford a college education; a short while ago, Hsu had a stroke and was hospitalized, the hospitals asked his daughter to pay for the charges, the courts believed, that Hsu never fulfilled his responsibilities as a father, and allowed the daughter, to not need to take care of him.
Hsu told the judge, that since she was born, she never saw her parents, she was raised by her grandparents, that her father didn’t give anything to raise her up; in high school, she’d needed to get the loans for her studies, and attempted to contact her father, but he’d told her he was in prison, or had car accidents, along with assortments of excuses, refused to show, and in the end, she couldn’t make the payments, so she couldn’t go to college. Hsu said, that her income was unstable right now, that she was barely making ends meet, she couldn’t pay for his medical care, asked the courts to relieve her of the need to pay for her father’s way.
Hsu’s aunt also testified, that back then, her younger brother started cohabiting with a woman, and as soon as the niece was born, she was left at her grandmothers, and, her birthmother moved back to Kaohsiung, and, lost contact with them, and after her younger brother had claimed himself to be the father, he’d, vanished too.
She said, that her younger brother started a new family, and for over twenty years, didn’t contact the families, and, the niece was raised by just her parents; and many years ago, as her parents died, her younger brother didn’t show up for their funerals either, that the whole family had, cut off contacts with him a long time ago; recently, he’d had a stroke and was hospitalized, and, she’d learned about this from his cohabiting partner.
The judge believed, that Hsu hadn’t showed an inkling of care or concern for his daughter since the day she was born, showed no love, or care, nor did he put up any money for raising her, and, it constituted as abandonment, that he didn’t fulfill the responsibilities of being a father, and allowed Hsu to not pay for his care.
You’d, abandoned your own young from before, and, she’d basically an orphan, as her mother ran off, to god knows where, and, it was the aunt, and the grandparents who’d, raised her, and now you’d, fallen ill at old age, and you come back demanding that she PAYS your way? Why should she? It’s not like, you were there, or you’d, put ANYTHING into raising her, and naturally, this DEADBEAT, irresponsible father had, lost his claims, and naturally, the daughter didn’t need to pay the supports, because he’d never even provided for her when she was growing up!
