Police Showed, that Girl, 10, Died from Child Abuse Injuries Suffered as an Infant

Investigators say the March 2016 death of a 10-year-old girl was due to child abuse she sustained when she was six months old, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.

Detectives were first notified that Elanis Milfort suffered a head injury on June 8, 2006. Her father, Lionel Milfort, was arrested and charged with child abuse soon after. He served time in prison and was released in June of 2014.

The young girl died in 2016 three days after surgery for a spinal condition that police say was the result of her infant head trauma.

In late June, 2017, a medical examiner ruled her death a homicide. Cold case investigators are now looking into the case, and the county prosecutor’s office will decide whether charges will be filed.

This is, truly, tragic, to think of how much this young child must’ve suffered, at the hands of an adult who should’ve loved, and cared for her, but didn’t, and, I’m still, MORE than certain, that this, won’t BE the last of its “kind”, a death caused by serious physical abuse!!!
