Three Effective Ways to Prevent Dementia

Health news alert!  Ways to delay the onset of dementia in your life, from the Newspapers, translated…

Based off of statistics, there are over 260,000 elderly who are demented in Taiwan right now, meaning, that one out of a hundred is demented.  Based off of the outlook of growth in population estimated by the government agencies, with the prevalence of dementia, by 2031, the population of demented elderly would hike up to 460,000, meaning, that two out of a hundred would be diagnosed as demented.

Most people know, that exercising the mind can slow down the progressions of deterioration of the brain, and prevent dementia, but, you can’t start exercising your mind, as the signs of dementia start showing up, it would be, too late by then.

Based off of research, before the onset of dementia, twenty years earlier, the patients’ brains started changing, and, dementia is a progressive kind of disorder, from mildly, to severe, and, every person’s rate and extent of deterioration is different.

An European and American research found, that those with a higher level of education, with a higher status quo, because they have a large space of cognitive processing, the illness wasn’t discovered earlier, and, as they started showing signs, the progressions will normally, come faster than normal people.

And, what are some ways, to help us prevent dementia?  There are three key tips here:

  1. Having Enough Sleep

“Sleepless for one night, lacking for ten nights on end”, this means, that if you don’t get a good night’s sleep one evening, for ten more nights that you tried making it up, it won’t be made up for, which showed the importance of having ample rest in the evenings.  Mostly, an adult needs on average seven to eight hours of sleep, but, everybody has a different sleep pattern, most important to note is, the quality of sleep needs to be excellent, and, there shouldn’t be any external disturbances when sleeping.  No matter how busy we get, we’d needed a way to relieve our stresses, to make ourselves more relaxed when sleeping.  For instance: meditation, yoga, exercise, or taking a bath, all of these, can help you feel more relaxed.

  1. Exercise Regularly

There are many studies that showed the benefits of exercise on the brain, how it can help our metabolisms, even, to help better our memories too.  With the coming of age, the proportion of muscles in the body declines, and, lacking exercise can not only cause the body to lose shape, it can also make people become lazier to go out, reducing contacts with the outside world, causing the mind to not get enough stimulations from outside.  Normally, there’s the suggestions of exercising three times a week, with twenty to thirty minutes at a time, and start doing this out of habit.

  1. Exercise the Mind

Use your mind often, learn new things, both of these, can prevent the onset of dementia.  Actually, there is, an assortment of mind exercises for instance, playing mahjong, chess, writing, gardening, knitting, or taking up a new language.  But, in mahjong and chess, playing the games too frequently can cause fatigue.

And if you’re reading the papers, you can see if there are crossword puzzles, or sudoku attached in the papers, and pick up that pencil or pen, start exercising your brains right now.

So, the best key to prevent or delay the onset of dementia is to keep your minds active, do things differently each and every time, and, think more on issues you may encounter, read the newspapers, and, form your own opinions on the matters, these, are just a few of the ways I can come up with, of keeping my mind active, what does YOUR list look like???
