From being a drug addict, to bettering himself, with the help from music! From the Front Page Sections, translated…
Ahn, who was from a rich home, who was admitted to Julliard because of his musical abilities, right when his life was going well, he’d started abusing marijuana and smuggling it, his life was turned upside down. After he was sent to Taipei Penitentiary, he got involved in musical instrument training, and, every time he’d practiced his music, he’d placed the photo of his wife and child on the stands, like his loved ones are right there, listening to him perform.
Shen-Feng Wang, who was a guitar player, was imprisoned because illegal substances, he’d placed ALL of his attention in music while serving his time, after he was released, he’d started a band, “Dreams, Reignited”, and with six other band members, they’d performed the process of being reborn that they’d all experienced.
Illegal substances are overflowing in Taiwan currently, with the age of usage getting lower and lower, once someone gets into the habit, it would be, next to impossible, to get out of the vicious cycle of drug abuse, a lot of the younger generations, because of the temptations from illegal substances, wasted their lives away. The Chang Yun-Fa Foundation donated saxophones, trombones, as well as electric guitars, to help kick start the program, “Dreams, Reignited”, yesterday, in the rain, they’d put on their first show, hoping, that through the music, they’re able to, fix up that crack in everybody in the society, as well as the reformed prison inmates too.
The six band members of “Dreams, Reignited” currently works in the food industries, construction sites, or are in job training programs, yesterday, as the band members performed, the lead singer, Wang sang his own music, “Ready to Go”, “No matter how painful, I am willing to take it, never turning back.”, not only was it a call for the importance to quit abusing drugs, it’d also showed the determination of the reformed inmates in making the possibilities of their own futures known to the world.
Wang said, that all six members of his band never gave up on music while they were serving time, after their released, they’d received help from the various industries, so they were able to, form this band, and now, they’d get together for rehearsals every week, and hoped, that the band can keep bringing hope and inspiration to the music lovers in jail.
And so, this, is a great program that these released inmates are involved in, they’d all found their separate salvations through music, and, hopefully, music would be strong enough, to keep them away from all the bad influences in the world such as drugs, and what not, seeing how determined these men are, I’m sure, that they won’t, enter into the prison systems, as inmates, that is.
