A man from the town of Jiji in Nantou drove his family home yesterday, while he was driving past the Zhongliao Section of Freeway 3, about to enter into the rest area of Nantou, the car lost control, and flipped over at the exit ramps, the back right tire fell off the car, the two-year-old daughter of Chang flew out of the car, and died on site, the other three passengers were, lifted to the hospital; the family stated, that just last week, the car was in the garage for a tune-up, they’d believed that the mechanics had, falsified the work that was done, which had, caused the tire to fall off, and the police are checking into the details of this.
The freeway police pointed out, that the 36-year-old Chang drove his 29-year-old wife and five and two-year-old daughters to Taichung to visit a friend, as they drove homeward about two o’clock in the afternoon, they’d passed through the ramp for the exit for the rest stations in Nantou, the car lost control and flipped over; the younger daughter was in her mother’s arms on the passenger side, and flew out of the car, suffered a severe laceration on her left thorax. As the police rushed over, they’d found the right tire on the backside had, flew off.
Chang’s mother told what her son told her, stated, that as he drove toward the Nantou Rest Area, the car turned toward the left, he’d pressed down on the brake pedal, it didn’t work, he’d wanted to use the friction from the railing on his right to stop the car, couldn’t do it, in the end, the car flipped over; and just last week, Chang took his car into the garage for a tune-up, and they’d suspected, that the mechanics didn’t do a completely job, that, was why the parts fell off, “the car flipping was caused by the loosening of the right back tires.”
The freeway police’s captain, Chang stated, that they couldn’t clarify, if the tire falling off was due to the mechanics, or if it was, caused by how hard the car bashed against the railings, that they’d already notified the D.A. to investigate the matter further.
The Nantou Fire Department stated, that as the ambulance arrived, the two-year-old was wrapped by a shirt inside the mother’s arms, although they’d performed CPR on her, and used the defibrillator, but because there was a huge laceration on her left thorax, and she’d stopped breathing already, and, as they’d lifted her to Tsaotun’s Yoming Hospital, she’d already, died.
Chang and his wife only suffered abrasions on their legs and arms, the five-year-old daughter showed signs of concussion, and is staying in the hospital for observation; Chang’s wife is also, twenty-eight weeks into her pregnancy, and, the doctors will further examine to see, if the fetus was affected in the accident or not.
So, this, was an unfortunate accident, with the younger daughter dead, and the wife is also pregnant, and, it’s really sad, when you’re, expecting a new life, and now, you’ll have to, bury one of the children you already have…
