The losses one endured through in one’s life time, now all that’s done with, and happiness is overdue! Translated…

As I’d met up with you again at the reunion, your chin was no longer pointy, instead, it’d become, fuller; but you’d kept that hairstyle you always had, it’s just, with the golden highlights, it’d made you looked, more fashionable. With the fitted gray sweater and jeans, embellishing your full figure, with that glow of bliss on your face, I knew, you’d, walked out of the glooms of the past already.

In the college years, you were outgoing and full of laughter. With that full voice, a small-framed body, as your tall and handsome boyfriend came to pick you up, you’d giggled as you’d waved to us, a group of your best friends goodbye, run into his embrace. We’d joked with you loudly, how fast you’d forgotten about your friends now that your boyfriend was here, but actually, we’d all, wish you the best.

As we all entered the workforce after graduation, we’d received the wedding invites one by one, but, I’d not heard from you for a long time. Then one day, you’d called me out for coffee, with that look of gloom, told me, that your boyfriend’s family didn’t like you, said that you have a thinned out chin, that you couldn’t bring about blessing to their son.

During that era of no extra communications, no cell phones, no internet, with the parents, checking your mail and hiding them, it seemed, that you two were, about to break up. But a month later, you’d told me with glee, that that evening, he’d arrived at your place, brought a golden ring, that wrapped you tightly. And the two of you were, in for the long run, after he’d found a job after his service terms, you will get married at the courthouses, and start a family of your own.

I’d waited on your wedding invitations, but, you’d gone off the grid ever since, and, as the rest of us got married one by one, we’d lost contact with each other, and, although you are still on all our minds, but, we’d lacked the time and the energy, to look you up. After a long time, I’d learned, from someone else, that your boyfriend who was a platoon leader in the army, was murdered, in the army, because of his attempt to resolve the conflicts between two men on his platoon. Your four years of love, those promises of love ‘til death, the visions of your futures together, all gone. You’d gone to his parents to pay your final respects, and, made amends with each other. And so, you’d, bid farewell to love, and, tossed what’s left of your remaining self-confidence, believed, that you don’t deserve happiness.

We’d met back up again, and it’s, twenty years since, I’d found you on Facebook, and found that you’d, found your old smiles back again. Turns out, you’d gone abroad to the U.S., maintained your single status, and focused all your energies into work. After many years, you’d finally, accepted the love from another man. He is, your boss, carried the loss of his own wife to illness. During Christmas season, the two of you found love in each other. Although happiness came late to you, but I believe, the two of you will cherish and love one another, this bliss, is rightfully, yours.

After so many years, we’d finally had our reunion, everybody got dressed up to the nines, and, you, the only one of us who’d gone abroad, became the center of attention. It’s just, that none of the classmates knew, the reason why you’re glowing so radiantly was because, you’d, walked through the valleys of life already.

So, despite the trials of her life, she’d still found, happiness that was, rightfully hers, and, without losing her boyfriend from the army, this woman would’ve have become who she is right now, so, everything still happened for a reason, you just might not know what the reasons of the tragedies in your lives may be, but in time, everything will reveal itself…
