A Woman Fell Prey to the Consolidation Scams, Ended Up Owing More Money

This would be, a MUST-KNOW! As if there aren’t enough ways that we can all get SCAMMED here, here’s, an “extra” way! From the Newspapers, translated…

“Hello, do you need debt consolidations?”, there was a woman, Lin in Hsinbei City, who’d swiped her credit card, after the scam artists told her he would help her consolidate the over two million dollars’ N.T. worth of credit card debts that she owed, and after she’d swiped her card, and afterwards, wanted to break the contracts, and the company denied her right to, it’d even added another cost on her credit card statements.

The officer, Chen, from the Consumer’s Protections Agency said, they’d received a total of sixty-two cases like this one reported, and they were all from advertising agencies, claiming that they can help the victims consolidate their debts. Actually, the debtors only needed to go to the banks that offers the consolidations services, they wouldn’t even need to spend a dime on getting the needed information, or the assistance in consolidating their debts.

the importance of NEVER giving out your credit card or personal information online, unless it’s a trusted agency!  Notmy photograph…

Chen said, that these sales companies were awful, in that they’d charged the head companies $300,000N.T.s, and used the measures of electronic products, gift certificates, and online game credits to launder the money, as the banks paid the charges, the companies would turn to the victims and ask them to pay, which made the problems as between the banks and the victims, but, the personal account information would be, leaked out to the various agencies.

Lin had multiple credit cards, and owed over $2.3 million N.T.s in credit card debts, awhile ago, she received a call from a man claimed to be a financial consultant of a bank, told her he could consolidate her debts for her, and after they’d met, Lin realized, that the man was from a sales company, but because he’d used his salesmanship to convince her, she mistakenly believed, that he was able to help her with her debts, and gave him all his credit cards, and, swiped a total of $300,000N.T.s.

But the next day, Lin realized, that something wasn’t quite right, she’d asked to break the contract she’d made, but the company denied it, she’d turned to the officers of Consumer Protections for help, and asked for a mediation, the sales company wrote a letter: everything will go accordingly to “the Contracts of Paying Up the Debts in Installments”, that there was NO sales made yet, refused to show up for the mediations.

The Consumer’s Protections Agency reminded the public, to watch out for these sorts of scams.

yeah, uh, are you sure, you want to, give ALL your cards to someone you don’t even know???  Not my photograph…

And so, because this woman was way too eager to get her debts all paid up, that, was why she was an easy target for the scam artists, and, after she realized she’d been scammed, she’d wanted to cancel, but the agency wouldn’t allow her to, and, she ended up going to the police for help. This still just shows, that this, is merely, one in a BILLION ways that those scam artists can take advantage of us, and, in a moment of weakness (b/c we’d lost money, etc., etc., etc.), it’d made us, easier targets, which is why, we can easily fall victim, and this also shows, how important it is, to find the RIGHT places to get the help on your finances, go to a local bank or something, don’t just believe everything someone tells you over the phones!
