Take your P-I-C-K…
so many items to pick from, iI want to try them all!!! Not my photo…
Realizations, thinking back to before, translated…
During the elementary years, I’d looked forward to the school-provided lunches.
AT the start of the month, the student in charge of lunch would hand out the month’s menus, I’d always grabbed my copy, and, studied it hard. As I saw “Yokult” or “Sweetened Starch Balls”, I’d placed a red check next to them; if it’s “dumplings”, then, I’d highlight. And my menu became colorful, and it’d shown a different scene, to my ordinary living.
As I grew older, the lunch lady and the nutritious lunches all, vanished, but there was, “placing an order for lunch” and “cafeteria” instead. What to have for lunch: fried rice, chicken strip noodles, or oulong noodles, or, nothing for lunch at all. As the number of choices increased, we thought we could finally get to decide, what to and what not to eat. We’d covered for one another, to flip over the school walls over the streets, to buy a sweetened cup of bubble tea, the pancakes with the red bean fillings. A small sort of an escape.
People say, you are, what you eat. The campus that’s isolated like an island, the lunches are ordinary, and yet, they’re not. So how do we, guess how we would look in our futures?
So this, is stemming from your experiences with school lunches, and, when you have more to choose from, you think you’re, that much closer, to making decisions for yourselves, but you’re actually not, because you’re still, selecting from the options that they (whoever it was that set up the menus???) hand to you!
And these, were what’s given to us as children…
EVERYBODY gets the SAME things!!! Not my photo here…
