A High-School Student Was Successful in Kicking His Drug Habits Because His Families & School Instructors Never Gave Up on Him

Because those who cared for him NEVER gave up on him! The importance of having the social supports of those who cared for you and those who loved you. From the Newspapers, translated…

A pair of never giving up hands, accompanied a high school student get walk through the addictions he had on the illegal substances. The second year high school student from Nanhuan Private High School, Chen became addicted to illegal substances back in his first year in high school when he’d started part-timing, in the juvenile detention halls, serving his time, because his family kept coming to visit him, his school instructors showed him an immense amount of care and support, he’d felt, “I wasn’t given up on”, he successfully got away from the illegal substances, and yesterday as the Mayor, Ke made a speech at Nanhua High School, he was awarded a certificate of encouragement.

Chen the student was not at all interested in studying, after he entered into high school, he’d set his goal to make more money, worked hard in his part-time jobs, and, he was expelled at the end of his first year in high school, he’d transferred into Nanhua High School, Chen said, he had more in common with the guys who worked alongside him at the gas stations, and because after school, he’d needed to make it to h testation to work the night shifts and graveyard too, he’d felt very tired, his coworkers told him, “Use some drugs can make you more energetic”, and he’d started getting into the habits of abusing ketamine and amphetamine.

He’d not used that much at the beginning, thought he wouldn’t get addicted, but, in three short months, he’d ended up needing to spend at least $1,000N.T. on drugs per day, he’d become, a mass user then, Chen said, his temperament changed because of his own drug abuse, would get into fights with his friends, and his girlfriend broke up because of his drug abuse too.

His homeroom teacher, Yi-Ru Chen recalled, that as Chen arrived into class, he’d fallen asleep on the desk, and, he would get angered if he was waken up, she instinctively thought something wasn’t quite right, and so, she’d called him up to chat, and, Chen was able to pour his heart out to her too; but, his drug problems went bust, his friend was abusing and was pulled over by the police, and, he was taken to the police station to give an urine sample too, and was, taken into custody, in the summer of his first year in high school, he was sent to Taipei Juvenile Hall.

In the forty-five days he’d spent in custody, not only the families came to see him, the homeroom teacher, Chen wrote, “I’m more than certain you will overcome your drug addictions”, “Everybody’s waiting for you in class”, to encourage him, making Chen felt that he wasn’t given up on.

And now, he’d gone to school early for class, and, in the afternoons, he’d helped out at the food shop his family owned, he said, “I’m still NOT the least bit interested in school, but, I’m already, thinking about my own future, if I will continue my education now.”

“Life had just begun, it’s okay if you’d made a mistake, but, you must, kick your drug habits.”, Chen’s father stated, after learning that his son was abusing, “I can’t believe this had happened to me,” he’d felt lost, but, after staying by his son for a little over a year, he’d felt, that every step of the way is very important, from the officers who’d tried to console with him, the supports shown to him by his school teacher, the parole officers’ show of concern, thankfully, Chen took it all in, that, was how he was able to, make it through.

So, this young man had a STRONG support system, a teacher who NEVER gave up on him, parents who’d stayed supportive of him, and, parole officers to watch over him, and he’d set his mind up, about turning his own life around, and all of these factors combined, was what made him successful, in stop abusing the illegal substances.
