Life, the Obstacle Course

An Angel at the Car Wash

Inspiration, from someone she met at random, translated…

The quality of air is no good lately, the air pollution from the factories, plus the drizzling rain, made my white car into a spotted leopard, after I’d gassed it up, I’d made my way to the carwash to get my car cleaned. Two part-time employees in their blue and white uniform ushered me in, there was a young man with cerebral palsy, called out from the outside of my windshield, “Miss, shift the gear into park, pull up the hand brakes.”, he’d dragged the last syllable of the sentences out, he’d smiled that childlike smile, and, melted my heart like the angels would.

Even though he’s quite thinly, he was, very agile, the hosing my car down, adding the soaps to wash, wiping the soaps off with a sponge, he’d bent down, to wash the dirt off the wheel covers too. Sometimes, I’d seen him, standing tall, but unsteady, about to fall down, my heart clenched tight, then, he was, able to, steady himself before falling, he’d carried that stamina like a small weed. Then, my car was sent, into the rolling brushes of the car wash machines, as the water washed away the foams, I’d heard the conversation of these two part-timing student employees, they were discussing where they’re going to hang out on the weekends, and that last sound from their conversation dragged on, very brightly, “sure, sure, it will, totally, be G-R-E-A-T!”

I’m grateful, for him, for washing the dusts and dirt off my car, and, washed off all the bad things in this world, even if God had given you a BAD place to live in, so long as you have the heart, you can, create, a whole new life for yourselves, he’d replaced that downfall from fate, with his radiant smile, I’m so in awe.

So, this, is an encounter, this woman may have been troubled by her own life, but, in seeing how the handicapped student worker interacted so radiantly with his coworkers, she was, infected, with his sense of optimism about life too, and, I’m sure, that this experience will help her, remind her to just, smile on, when she feels defeated by life in the futures to come.
