At the end of their ropes here! A tragedy, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
In a residential apartment in Shihlin yesterday, there was, a double homicide, the woman Chen, was suspected of being overwhelmed with the pressures from caring for her severely mentally retarded daughter she’d burned charcoal inside the residence, as the police were called, they’d broken into their apartment, and found that the mother-daughter pair had been dead for at least two days, the police are currently, investigating what exactly had happened.
The police investigated, that after they’d examined the scenes, they were able to five the fifty-one-year-old Chen’s five last notes to her youngest daughter, the landlord, her eldest brother, the school, and her husband too, the summary of the notes was on how it became too stressful, to care for her twenty-eight-year-old mentally retarded daughter on her own, that, was why she’d taken her daughter with her to suicide, Chen works as a waitress at a restaurant, but didn’t file for the low-income government assistance, her separated husband had been contacted, he is now, headed up north from Kaohsiung right now.
The coroner examined the bodies, and found, that they’d been dead for about two days, the daughter seemed to have been poisoned, foamed at the mouth, with traces of tape around her mouth, and, the mother’s corpse was better preserved, they’d believed, that the daughter had died earlier, and, suspected, that the mother had, drugged her own daughter, then, taped her daughter’s mouth shut, so she wouldn’t spit out the meds, and after she made sure her daughter died, then, she’d burned charcoal to commit suicide, next to her own daughter’s body.
The bodies were discovered, because yesterday, the facility where Chen’s eldest daughter was taking the classes found her to be absent these past couple of days, they’d asked the social workers to go for a home visit, but because nobody answered the door, the social workers called the police to break in, and that, was when they found the two bodies.
So, these deaths are, caused by the trials of life, the mother was fatigued from having to care for her daughter, and the daughter was severely mentally retarded, making it even harder, for her to care for, and, finally, the mother couldn’t stand it anymore, and, decided to murder her own young, then, commit suicide herself, and, this could’ve been avoided, had the grown up sought out help from without.
