The Abused Adolescent Girls Who Once Feared Contacting People, Fought Against the Society, Had Now, Gotten Out of the Gloom, and, They’d, Worked Together, to Make Savory Dishes for the Elderly Who Lived Alone, “Hoping that Before the New Year’s the Elderly Who Lived Alone Can Feel the Cares and Concerns of Being Surrounded by Their Loved Ones and Families”. The Elderly Had Nothing But Good Things to Say, It’d Helped the Girls Find Back Their Lost Confidence, and They’d Come to Understand, What a Blessing it Was, to be Able, to Give Back to the Community.

The seventeen-year-old “Purple”, originally lived with her grandmother in Tainan, after she’d followed her parents up to the north to live, she was physically abused by her own mother, there are, still, wounds and scars on her body left over to date. There was a large knife scar, from her middle school, when she’d gotten into a loud argument with her older brother, that her mother hacked down at her; this constant abuse had made her start rebelling early, she’d flipped over the walls, skipped classes, and, cussed everybody out.

Fish, who’s the same age, watched her parents fight as a young child, and her father was always, too harsh on her; in the middle school years, she’d watched as her mother cooked, the very first dish she’d learned from her mother was “fish”. And, her mother committed suicide after a huge confrontation with her father, her father took up with another, and, not paid any heed to her since, her home is no longer warm; every time she’d thought about her mom, she’d go into the kitchens, and, pan-friend the salmon, to remember how much her mother loved her.

Jun, who just turned eighteen, watched her parents fight over economics, and her mother always took her angers out on her, beaten her up with a whip, a club too, it’d become, ordinary to her. After her father died, her mother was diagnosed with bipolar, and, abused her even more violently then, and had, multiple times, shoved her against the walls. Having gone in and out of the hospitals, last year, because the teachers at the school reported it, the Hsinbei City’s Department of Social Services got involved, and, set her up to live at the social welfare unit, “Youth Abilities Home”, that, was what helped her get away from the domestic violence at her home front.

The three adolescent girls were all violently treated, and all feared contacts with people, had their guards up, and started showing signs of anti-social personality. After they went into the “Youth Abilities Home”, they’d started, not fearing strangers, and pushing everybody around them out.

The Youth Abilities Home found these three adolescent girls to cook, to invite the elderly who lived alone, for an early New Year’s Eve meal. The elderly were enjoying the food, the three adolescent head chefs said, that seeing them smile, gave them the courage and self-confidences, to help the less fortunate out, that it’d become, an encouragement to them.

Fish said, “Hope that before the New Year’s, the elderly who lived alone can feel that they have their loved ones close by”. As Tzi massaged an elderly woman who lived alone who’d come to the New Year’s Eve meal, she’d recalled how much she was loved by her grandmother when she was younger, “This year, massaging grandma is what I’m looking forward to the most.”

So, through this outreach program, these three adolescent girls were able to, march out of the glooms of their experience of younger abuse, and, they’d gotten a firsthand experience at how good it felt, to give something BACK to the community, and, this will definitely, keep them on the right tracks of life that’s for sure!
