The Suicides by Coal in Penghu “Couldn’t Withstand How Ill the Aunt Was Becoming, That, Was Why the Five of Us Committed Suicide”

In Penghu, in the city of Magong, the case of five women burning charcoal to commit suicide, and the only one who’s awake, the homeowner, Chen’s eldest daughter claimed, that because they couldn’t withstand watching their beloved aunt keep suffering with illness, that, was why the five of them all decided to commit suicide by burning charcoal; the police already confirmed that there was no forced entry to the house, and, there were NO toxins in the five people’s systems, but, because there was still one injured person who’s not yet awake, the police is waiting to see, if there may have been, other reasons for this family’s suicide attempts together.

The homeowner, Chen told, that he still couldn’t understand up until yesterday, WHY the five members of the family chosen to end their lives this way, “I really can’t wrap my head around it.”

This case of five people burning coal to commit suicide had caused three deaths, and one person in a steady coma, and the only one who’s lucid and out of the woods was the homeowner, Chen’s twenty-four year-old eldest daughter; the other members of their family suspected it was a collective suicide attempt, and the police believed there are, several doubtful points. In order to see if there’s the possibilities of assisted suicide, the police drew the blood from the five members of the family, and the coroner’s report showed, that all five people suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, but there were, NO toxins inside their systems or any responses to prescribed medications, the police ruled out that they may have taken pills, or were drugged before burning charcoal.

The police inquired the eldest daughter of the Chen’s household, she said that because her aunt was overcome with a serious illness, the four of them took care of her long-term, and were very close to her aunt, and so, they didn’t feel right, watching their aunt keep suffering with illness, that, was why the five of them decided to commit suicide with charcoal.

The neighbors told, that Chen was diagnosed with psychological disorder many year ago, her husband had gone to the local temples to seek out help, later on, her mental condition had, improved, but, she was, diagnosed with breast cancer later, that that, may have been why she’d wanted to commit suicide.

The twenty-six-year-old niece of the homeowner is still in a coma, and being resuscitated, the Penghu District Attorney’s Office stated, that they will wait for her to regain consciousness, then, they’ll get her statements, and, the two women who’s fingerprints were found will have to be investigated, to see if they were, involved in artificial suicide later on.

And so, this, is a family tragedy that occurred, because someone in the family was seriously ill, and, her family members that were very close to her, felt her distress, and, they couldn’t, withstand, to see her suffer, so, they’d decided, to commit suicide with her, and, that, is just, the consequences of their lives, combined.
