It Takes More than Money, to Care for the Aging Elderly in the Population

Commentaries from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The age of the elderly is here, in the limited amount of resources being available, how we’re to provide the needed care for the aging populations, is an issue that needs to be thought over again. The elderly health insurances program in Taichung starting this year, stopped covering those elderly who can afford it, it’d caused debate; the payments from the National Health Insurance programs are in lump sum, and this not only put great burdens on the community, it’d also, gone against provisions of care for the elderly, adding more burdens to the government; I think, the best way to resolve this problem is by investing the money paid into the national health insurance accounts, to practically increase the care being given, helping to improve the quality of care, that, is the best way to resolve the problem.

What kinds of care DO the elderly need? Other than offering monetary assistance, the health insurances doesn’t do anything else. You can just, pay, to help out the aging population, you must consider, what are some ways, to help improve the quality of life for the aging populations, other than bettering the quality of life, this can also, reduce the amount of care needed, as well as slashing the costs of the medical care.

In order to achieve this goal, we must set up an up-to-standard level of elderly care, and yet, the structuring of the systems is, the hardest to manage, including the place, the personnel, to provide the various kinds of care, based off of the different needs of the older adults, all of these issues, need to be thought about thoroughly.

The central government worked hard, to implement the policies of Long-Term Care 2.0, and, the city government of Taichung also, matched, and put up the money that was lacking in the program, and set up a series of elderly care services that are available, and all of these, are focused on improving the overall health statuses of older adults who are, relatively, still, healthy, with the goal of getting the elderly to maintain the healthy status, or to slowly, recover from being slightly unhealthy. This year, the government had, expanded on the already available services, and altered the rules of the provisions of the homecare programs.

With the various services becoming available, the elderly population receiving the care they’d needed, and children are also, de-pressurized, and, gained their ability, to look for higher paying work. We can’t wait until the elders started falling ill, then seek out help, we need to do ALL that we possibly can, to make sure that the elderly population have the quality of life they rightfully deserved!

So, this, is on the setting up and implementing of policies of long-term care, and, the writer is right, on that we needed a more well-rounded program in caring for the elderly in the population, because, people are living longer and longer, and so, problems of the elderly years will keep on surfacing, and, we need a complete program that can cover ALL the necessary areas of care.
