The punishment still doesn’t quite fit the crime here, does it, nope, but, there’s nothing we can do ‘bout it, unless you want to appeal for a heavier sentence, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
Smuggling four kilograms of second level controlled substances, and he’d received only probation. A man, Ba was enticed by the offers of getting to tour Australia for free and getting paid for $40,000N.T. per kilo of amphetamine he’d smuggled in, he’d tried to make it past the customs check stations with the amphetamines, he was caught, the judge believed that it was his first offense, and admitted to what he’d done, and “took pity on him”, reduced his sentence TWICE, and sentenced him to just two years, and put him on probation for four years. This odd ruling had, caused the district attorney’s office to get angered.

The legal realms stated, that doing away with illegal substances was the primary focus of the current government led by President Tsai’s policies, today, President Tsai will be touring the Anti-Drugs Museum set up by the Bureau of Investigations, and yet, the courts were, being lenient toward the smugglers, it’s not just an oddity in practice, it’d also become, a satire to the government’s anti-drug wars, it can also cause a lot more of the members of the younger generations to get enticed by the cartels into selling the illegal substances.
“I really want to smack the tables”, “Outrageous,” “Where’s the law in all of this?”, the group of district attorneys got all worked up, pointed out, that trafficking second level illegal substances is a crime that can get the offenders seven years to life in prison, and, announcing probation for this particular case would be, “too outrageous”, they’d believed that the judge was taking pity on the trafficker, to beat down on the members of the detective agency hunting down the illegal substances in the country, they’re preparing for an appeal.
The Taoyuan District Court stated, that they will respect the rulings by the judge, and, the Collective Courts didn’t have a comment, and respected that the angers from the D.A.’s office.
The Taoyuan District Court investigated, that Ba (age 21) in June of last, met a man nicknamed “How”, How enticed him with a free tour of Australia, had him carry the illegal substances at the market value of $40,000/kilo, after Ba had agreed, “How” had set him up with a tour group going to Sydney, and told Ba to wait for the instructions, then, take the illegal substances abroad.
Last year on July 28, Ba got the order to meet a driver for a smaller truck at Zuoying Station, took the $650 in Australian currency, a cell phone, along with a suitcase containing for kilos of amphetamine; the man told him that soon as he arrived in Australia, someone will contact him on the drop site. Ba immediately rode the high speed rail to Taoyuan, at the checkpoint upon exiting, the D.E.A. found the illegal substances he’d hidden in his suitcase.
After Ba was arrested, he’d admitted to wanting that free trip and the $40,000N.T. he was promised by the dealers, but didn’t know who “How” was.
The Taoyuan District court ruled that Ba was used by the drug cartels, because they’d enticed him with money, and that this was his very first offense, he’d not gotten out of the country yet and was found, the illegal substances didn’t get out yet, that he was only, a small carrier in the whole operation, that he received a reduced sentence based off of the prevention of drug deals laws, he was given a two year jail sentence, on probation for four, and he’d needed to pay the government a $100,000N.T. fine, and do a 240-hour volunteer services, and after they’d completed the requirement, NO jail time would be served by the men.

Guess what THIS precedent can set for the “followers”, huh??? Oh yeah, so long as we’re just, transporters, knowingly smuggling in the illegal substances, we only get a slap on our wrists, nothing more, and yeah, there’s something WRONG with the judge’s BRAINS here all right!!!
