Reaching out, to the elderly in the population, what this college student started is truly, amazing, he led by example here, from the Newspapers, translated…

Based off of statistical measurements, only 38.2 percent of students graduated from the long-term care majors are going into related fields. The Chenggong University student, Ya-Da Chiu who’d started the “Passing the Love Out with Cycling”, hoped that using this opportunity, it can spark the cares and concerns of the younger generations toward the elderly in the populations.

Ya-Da Chiu in 2014, set up the “Love Now Youth Volunteer Group”, and would call out to the younger generations from all over, to accompany the elderly generations. He’d pointed out, that the gaps between the generations are, getting wider and wider, the people from his generation, have a difference in degree of tolerance to new ideas, compared to the generations of the elderly. Through offering assistance to the elderly in the population, it can also help even out the differences of the generations.

“Sending Love with Cycling” also received funding from online. The gifts to those sponsors included the Hong-Dao Elderly Foundation’s “Experiences Being an Elderly Person”. It’d had the individuals put on ear plugs, reading glasses, heavy vests, the hunchback, along with foot holders. Through the technologies now, allowing the participants to experience how inconvenience old age is, thus, they’re able to gain some empathy, and be more willing to accompany the aging populations, to show more cares and concerns toward them.

“In each and every volunteer opportunity, we’d found, that the elders are not in need of money or materials, but the simplest kind of accompaniment and show of care and concerns toward them”, Ya-Da Chiu stated, everybody knows that s/he should spend more time with the family, but, would always be too busy in life, to make the time, “the simplest form of accompaniment is actually, the most important.”

During the time he’d set up the “Passing the Love Out with Cycling”, the most widely asked question to Chiu was, “You’d only spent a few short hours in the nursing homes you’d visited, what, can that bring to the elderly there?”, he’d stated, that that, is why he’d wanted to set up a better circuit with the local college groups, hoping, that after the events ended, the local groups from the colleges can still keep visiting the elderly at the nursing homes. “More importantly, I hope, that after people know of our volunteering, they’ll be prone to call home to grandma and grandpa more.”
