The twenty-eight year-old office attendant, Huang of Linkou District Office is very passionate about helping the locals with whatever they’d needed, she’d spent a year to care for and to visit an elderly woman who’s blind and demented too, helped her put the pieces of her memories together, helped her get her eyesight back, and even helped her to get back to her home before the Chinese New Year’s, and for this, she was chosen as an Excellent Social Worker, she’d received recognitions for her kindness yesterday.
Four years ago, she started working at the local government office of Linkou, and received a call from a local temple that an elderly woman who’s demented and homeless was straying on the streets, in the shortest time possible, she’d visited the elderly woman, back then, the elderly didn’t have ANY form of identification, only recalled, “Baihe, Tainan, born in 1962”, she’d set up the emergency assist, and went through the land offices, to find out who the elderly woman was.

After a year of visiting, caring, and working to find out who the elderly woman was, finally, she was able to, find out the registration of where the elderly woman came from, along with gotten into contact with the elderly woman’s son in Taichung, before the Lunar New Years of 2013, helped the family have a reunion, and, Huang also got the elderly woman the treatments she’d needed for her cataracts, and, she’d gained her sight back, and after her surgeries, she’d started volunteering back at the local temples again.
Huang said, that she’d gone on her own passions to help out, and, her motto was from the Taiwanese movie of “Soaring Against the Light”, “If you don’t try, how will you know how much you can achieve”, the smiles of the elderly woman, making it in home right before the Chinese New Years, along with how she’s now, volunteering again, to return the kindness she’d received from a stranger, was the motive for her to keep doing what she’d been doing.
So, this, is the kindness from this stranger who’s a social worker, helping the elderly woman get home, to reunite with her own family, and, this woman had gone over and beyond the call of duty, not only was she able to send the elderly woman home, she’d also, set up the surgeries, to help the elderly get her sight back again, and now, the elderly is volunteering with her local temple, continuing to carry on this legacy of helping out that she’d received from a complete stranger.
