“Grandpa, it’s hot, so be careful”, “Grandpa, would you like some more food!” Eight ninth graders from Jingsha Middle School used their free period yesterday, followed the Huashan Foundation to send the love to an elderly man, Chen who lived alone, the elderly lives in the town of Jingsha, in Kinmen, the students all acted the roles of “Grandchildren for the day”, sat with the elderly and ate with him, and they’d, worked hard, dancing, and singing, entertaining the elderly, and helped with the cleaning up of the man’s living environment, it’d moved the elderly man very much.

The seventy-eight year old elderly man, Chen has hypertension, heart disease, lives alone in the town of Jingsha, Kimen, he’d lived temporarily, inside the unsafe, the messy and unkempt ancient mansion on Yang-Yue Main Street, because of how economically unstable the elderly is, he’d worried about not having enough food to eat, and would always split one serving of a packed meal into three, and, meal time, for him, who’s without anybody, is the happiest.

The Huashan Foundation visited the elderly, Chen’s place with the councilman, Lee, the principal of Jingsha Middle School, Song, and brought some cheers for the holidays to Chen and four other elderly.

The middle school students performed their well-rehearsed song and dance, and the elderly watched with enthusiasm, and they’d delivered their handmade cards, to give that feeling of being cared about and for to the elderly who lived on their own.

Lee and Song had, dressed themselves up as the God of Fortune and Luck, giving the elderly the foods to celebrate the New Year’s with, and the elderly were warmed up by these acts of kindness. After the meals, the students of Jingsha Middle School rolled up their sleeves alongside the volunteers from the Huashan Foundation, started cleaning up the living environments, as the group saw how everything was, stacked all over the places and out of order, they were, even more motivated, to help keep the place looking neater than it was.

So, this, is a foundation helping to give some kindness to the elderly who lived alone on their own, with the collaborations from the students of a local school, the school’s principal, along with the councilman, they were able to, brighten up the days of the elderly who lived alone, and this, is how far a little kindness goes.
